"Oh, I'm not concerned with you. I'm talking about Fiona. A stiff breeze looks like it will blow her away." Stacia teased with a smile towards Fiona. "You'll find the Ghis always think that you're talking about them when you're not."

"Sam eats enough for three men. I can hardly keep up with him sometimes." Fiona said, glancing at Sam as she didn't back down from the teasing.

"I was talkin' about both of us, but alrigh'," Sam rolled his eyes at them. But before they could start eating, a small tremor went through the ground. It wasn't enough to cause anyone to lose their balance, almost like thunder than an earthquake.

"The hell was that...?" Sam murmured, standing and going to the window to look outside. "Fiona... Look."

Outside in the distance, Invah had come into the village and another unfamiliar dragon had landed nearby, a massive dark green beast with golden eyes, and the tremor had been Invah practically tackling him.

Fiona was at Sam's side in an instant, looking out at Invah as she tackled another dragon, happiness in her eyes and on her features. "I think that's her mate. He must have heard that she was here."

A small smile came to Sam's lips as Invah curled up in the male's arms, tucking her head against his chest as his wings and arms encircled her. It was a strange sight to see the sure and strong dragoness fall to pieces, but it was just what she'd needed.

Fiona watched the scene through the window, glancing at Sam as he smiled at Invah's reaction. Perhaps one day they would get back to that position for themselves. At least she hoped that they would.

"Excuse me a moment." Fiona said as she turned to get her cloak, pulling it on along with her new scarf before she left to meet this new dragon.

When Fiona reached Invah, the great dragon was trying her level best not to weep in joy. Her mate, Gaiann, glanced down as Fiona approached. Invah looked down as well, and immediately scooped Fiona into her arms. "Oh, little kit," she murmured.

"I see you didn't need me at all." Fiona said with a smile as Invah scooped her into her arms and held her tightly. "I'm happy he made it to you."

Fiona glanced at the other dragon, impressed that he was so much larger than even Invah. "And it is a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Gaiann, this is Fiona. I suppose she's my newest fledgling," Invah murmured, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Then I should welcome you to our family," Gaiann said with a small but welcoming smile and a rich accent that sounded somewhat eastern European.

"Invah wouldn't let me say no." Fiona said with a soft chuckle as Gaiann welcomed her with his rich, deep voice. "She's told me a lot about you. She worried you might have been long gone by the time that we got here. I'm glad to see that you are alive and well."

About the time that Fiona spoke, Roman and Kennah came bounding towards the two from the woods, drawn by the loud sounds that they had heard while hunting rabbits and fish.

"And those two are trouble. Kennah is too serious and Roman too silly. Sam is convinced we have a fledgling on the way." Fiona told Invah as the drakes both stopped to investigate the great dragons.

Gaiann smiled down at the drakes, the creatures being cousins to dragons. As Invah set Fiona down to hold Gaiann a little tighter, his wing curled more securely around her. "I don't mean to be rude, little one, but I think Invah and I need some time to catch up ourselves before anything else," he muttered with a smile to Fiona before rising and bringing Invah along with him out of the village.

Fiona smiled after the two of them as they went off into the wilderness to reconnect. Fiona took a deep breath and turned to face Roman, looking him hard in the eye.

"You best shape up, beastie. Being a father is a hard job and I won't let you slack in your duties." Fiona said, patting his maw as Kennah nuzzled against her for attention too. "You take care of her and that little egg when it comes."

Roman simply rumbled happily, though there was already some change in his behavior as he seemed to watch Kennah like a hawk whenever she was near any other person or animal, even Sam and Fiona. It was a natural protectiveness, somewhat balanced by how Kennah would certainly begin to soften and grow less serious as she focused on her mate and coming fledgling instead of her job.

Kennah soon nuzzled Roman away, sending him off to continue hunting. As the small village didn't have even enough to sell to care for drakes, it was up to Sam, Fiona, and the drakes themselves to find enough food.

Fiona smiled as Roman lumbered off to continue hunting. "Come on, Kennah. Let's get you warm." Fiona said as she ushered the pregnant drake towards the tavern again.

Kennah followed along beside Fiona dutifully, returning quite happily to the nest of straw that Sam had made for her in the barn beside the tavern. Sam was waiting beside the barn, giving Kennah a pat as she passed by.

"Roman's off hunting. We'll see what he can manage to bring in with him." Fiona commented as she followed Kennah into the barn, helping to get the drake settled with Sam by her side. "I didn't mean to pull you away from breakfast, Sam."

"I wanted t'come see what th'fuss was about anyway," Sam said with a shrug as he followed into the barn. As Kennah laid down in the straw, she fixed Fiona with a strange look as if confused by how others were trying to take care of her more than usual.

"You're carrying an egg, sweet girl." Fiona said as Kennah fixed her with a confused glance. "Which means all the extra attention you could ever want."

"She's never liked special attention from many people. But she doesn' complain too much when it comes to certain women." Sam muttered, coming to crouch before his drake to cradle her head in his hands and press a kiss to her forehead. "An' you don' mind me either," he chuckled as Kennah closed her eyes and rumbled in contentment. Sam was her first love and her partner, while Roman was her mate and the only other person she had any dependency on at the moment. Fiona was near and dear to her heart too, but they hadn't worked directly together very much yet.

"I'll see if my grandmother has any extra smoked fish. Roman seemed to enjoy them last night." Fiona said as Sam had a moment with Kennah. "She loves you dearly, Sam."

"An' I love her. She's as much family as any o' my siblings 'r parents." Sam let Kennah lay her head down to get a bit more sleep, and he rose to head back into the tavern with Fiona to finish breakfast.

What about me, Fiona found herself wondering as Sam guided her back to the tavern to finish breakfast. Laughter filled the air as the door opened and she saw Stacia and Tavir in lively conversation with one another. It was clear that the two shared much in common and were absolutely in love.

"You best be careful, Vir, or else I'm going to turn you out into the snow." Stacia warned as she gathered her empty plate, kissed his cheek and went to start on her chores. "And I'll warn my Ma to not let you in at their house either."

"If you throw me out, you'll have to run the tavern alone. Then when will you sleep?" Tavir asked with a smirk, following Stacia with his own dishes. Sam sat back down to eat, but it didn't take long for him to speak up. "Once this winter's over... What'll you do, lass?" He asked, looking to Fiona.

"I guess go back to Inverness." Fiona said with a shrug of her shoulders. "Justin has been waiting for me to work for him. I made a deal and I intend to see it through. Will probably wants me home as well. Maybe I can start saving some money to build a little home of our own."

"There's plenty o' open land fer sale on th'west side o' town, close enough t'the drake pastures tha' takin' care o' Roman shouldn' be too much of a hassle, same fer Will workin' and you gettin' t'Justin's place," Sam suggested. "

"I know Will will be off on his own soon enough and then I don't know what I'll do. I've take care of him for so long." Fiona said as she slowly ate, unsure as to why Sam was asking her those questions. "I guess I'll work more and come see my family here from time to time."
