Fiona chuckled as Will told her that he didn't want to look like a fool. She moved from the room and grabbed her grandfather's pocket watch, moving back into Will's room to carefully pin it to his uniform.

"Take special care of it for me." Fiona murmured, giving will a grin.

Will glanced down at the watch before looking up at Fiona in surprise. "Are you sure? I don't want anything to happen to it..."

"I know you won't let anything happen to it, Will." Fiona said as she tucked it inside of his front pocket. "Just let it be a reminder to not do anything foolish with Lucy Ghis because I'm always watching you."

"Why does everyone think I'm out to get Lucy in trouble?" Will sighed before turning to get his cloak. "They should be more worried about other Ghis who always get into trouble, like David's mom, or Kell."

"Because you're young and in love, Will. We're just teasing you." Fiona said as he continued to grumble like a bear. "Just have fun. Be friends with her. She's a lovely young woman."

"If you're not careful, I'm gonna join up with all of Sam's family and tease you two," Will shot her a smirk. "And I'm still considering calling him Dad, since youre supposed to be my mom and all."

"You sure you want to tease Sam Ghis? You're a brave soul." Fiona said as she ruffled Will's messy hair and moved to finish getting ready herself.

She had a small gift ready for Ashelin and a new gown that she had made for herself. It was blue, dark and rich. It made her eyes shine and her pale hair practically glow. She bound her long hair into a twist, a simple style that she always thought suited her. She never dressed to impress anyone but she hoped that Sam gave her more than a passing glance.

"He can't catch me, so I'm not that worried," Will said with a smirk. "And I bet Volgern could outrun Kennah too." He tried to tame his hair down with a comb, but it was too wild and thick to set to rights.

"But he can't outrun Roman. And Roman would most definitely let him ride if it impressed Kennah." Fiona teased, taking Will's arm after she had put on her cloak for him to escort her to the keep. "Although....as thieves, we do know all of the good hiding spots in Inverness."

"Roman would be too distracted," Will laughed. "I'd outfox him easily."

The keep was especially warm and welcoming that evening, a few decorations here and there and plenty of food and drinks suited for children, and a small band of musicians playing near the entrance so people could hear the music inside and out. Ghis celebrations were always warm, but never rich or showy

"Best behavior, Will." Fiona reminded him as they stepped past the band at the entrance, greeted with the warmth of the keep.

Ashelin was already dancing with Mako, the chocolate brown wolf filled with vibrant energy for his little cousin. She looked so incredibly happy just then, her green eyes bright and shining. Fiona let Will go to his own devices, knowing that soon he would be dancing with Lucy under the watchful eyes of her uncle and uvore.

She looked around the room at each person that was there. Of course a gaggle of small girls were chatting cheerfully at a table at the head of the room. Heather was there, a bit reserved but trying her hardest to join in. The rest of the family was spred throughout the room. It made her smile to see Kayla MacNamara, still incredibly pale and drawn, talking to her father as Aleister cradled their tiny daughter. The boys were bounding about and making mischief as two young boys should have.

Sam had placed himself off to the side next to his two uncles Durban and Boar whose size and muscle he now rivaled. Durban saw Fiona first, and nudged Boar's arm. Boar kissed Kayla's cheek before rising stiffly and approaching Fiona. Sam watched him go, but waited to greet Fiona until Boar had spoken to her.

"Hiya, lass," Boar murmured rather hoarsely, clearly tired but looking relaxed. He took Fiona's hand warmly, giving her a gentle smile. "I wanted t'thank you an' yer friend fer helpin' Al an' Kay. Dazu an' Leon told me 'ow you two helped run th' bakery. It took a lot o' stress off our shoulders, not havin' t'worry about their business bein' hurt."

"You don't need to think me. Aleister gave me a home when no one else would. Your daughter also looked after Will when I was gone. It's the very least that I could do." Fiona said with a smile towards Boar as he took her hand and thanked her profusely. "I'm glad to see that she is up and about."

"Only just. But she wanted an excuse t'see everyone an' ease some fears. Not t'mention introducin' Andra," Boar muttered, turning to glance at the newest little girl to steal his heart. When he looked back to Fiona, his smile grew even warmer. "Thank ya, lass. From th' bottom o'my heart." When he returned to Kayla and Emma, Sam finally approached and gave Fiona a handsome smile.

"Seems like more an' more o' my family are gettin' y'like you. An' suddenly th' little ones seem t'think y'can do no wrong. Even Lynn."

"Lynn, Danny, and Silas just like Roman." Fiona said with a smile as Sam approached her. "Jamie is too young to know what he likes, so he just follows what his brother says."

"You look handsome this evening." Fiona ventured, her cheeks turning bright red as she said that. "More so than usual."

Sam chuckled and straightened his uniform ever so slightly. He usually avoided wearing anything fancier than his working uniform, but he and his brothers had all gotten out their proper dress uniforms for Ashelin's party, knowing she loved feeling like she were at a true court ball with gowns and suits. "I think you're biased," Sam teased softly. "But I think anyone here could agree we me tha' you look absolutely beautiful." He took her hands and leaned in to kiss her cheek.

"I made it myself." Fiona said, looking down at her blue dress as Sam complimented her and kissed her cheek fondly. "The fabric might have cost too much, but it was worth it, I think."

Fiona laughed as Sam looked at her like a fool in love. She wasn't good at romance, but with Sam Ghis it was easy.

"If my opinion means anythin', I think I was worth it," Sam assured her. Then a large hand came to lay on his shoulder.

"Y'goin' t'introduce me yet, lad?" Durban's voice reached them. "I feel like I'm th' only one tha' hasn't met this mysterious dragon lass."

"I'm surprised Seamus or Jeannine hasn't mentioned me yet. As much as Ria has fed me over the years." Fiona said as Durban interrupted them, demanding to be introduced to her.

"I've 'eard of you, no doubt. But never gotten a chance t'meet you properly," Durban said with a smile. "An' seein' as my little brothers an' their kids love ya so much, I figured it was time. But I don' want t'hold you two up."

Sam just rolled his eyes. "Yeah y' do, yer life's joy is ruinin' mine."

Durban chuckled and simply patted Fiona's hand kindly before leaving them be. "Typical. 'E's worse than Ash sometimes," Sam muttered, though there was a small amused smirk pulling at the corner of his lips.

Fiona laughed as Durban teased Sam. It seemed that his family loved to meddle and loved to tease the most stoic among them. Fiona leaned against Sam's chest, hugging him tightly as they were left alone. It made her so incredibly happy to simply be there with him.

Soon after, Kate and Kell slipped into the great hall. They had ridden hard from Glasgow, not wanting to miss the twin's birthday. They hadn't made it for Heather's party, but that didn't mean that they couldn't dote on both of the girls at Ashelin's.

"Happy birthday, love." The queen of Scotland whispered against Heather's ear, kissing her sister's cheek as the little girl smiled broadly. "I'm sorry we're late. Kell wouldn't let me ride any harder."

"You made it back and that's all that matters." Heather murmured as she turned to hug her sister around the waist.

Kell came to Heather's side to and kissed her cheek before giving Kate a smirk when she told her sister that he had refused to let her hurry too much on their way back from Glasgow. The journey had been twofold- to visit King Gallus, and to visit the Duke who represented their court in Glasgow to both pick up and drop off all sorts of documents. Kell had had his own business there too, but Kate was rarely involved with such things.

Kate gave her mate a glance as he smirked at her. She knew that he was protective of her, especially after they had found that she was expecting. He would be a very good father but she had to get him to loosen up when it came to her and their future cub.

"Make sure you dance tonight, Heather." Kate whispered against her ear. "You'll have more fun than you think you will."

Kate knew how much Heather had been struggling and she knew that she was trying to be better for the sake of their family. It was admirable, but she also knew that Heather needed a push from time to time.

"I will. I promise. Da already promised to dance with me." Heather murmured.

"Just make sure you add me to your dance card too, eli," Kell reminded her before he was practically mobbed by some of the girls' younger cousins. Despite how long it'd taken for some family members to warm up to Kell and dismiss his former reputation, the youngest generation seemed to adore him and were always the first to listen in awe to some of his stories.

Fiona had settled at a small table with Sam, out of the way from the commotion as they talked quietly and watched the crowd around them. "Don't even think about dancing with me. I don't dance." Fiona said simply, glancing towards Sam with a grin.
