"No one." Fiona said as he sat beside her, the fierce look in his eyes telling her that he was incredibly serious about the situation. "It's in the past. I'll take care of it."

"You know I don' believe tha' for a second, love," Sam murmured, his expression growing worried. "If you're in trouble, I can help, Fiona."

"I'm not in trouble, Sam. It's just a misunderstanding." She said as he looked at her with worry in his gaze. "I'll take care of it. I promise."

Sam laid the note on her nightstand before sliding in close to her side, hugging her tight and pressing a kiss to her temple. He knew she wouldn't tell anything until she was ready.

Fiona rested her head against his shoulder as he kissed her temple and let the matter drop for the time being. "I'm sorry, Sam."

It was all she could really think to say. She wasn't sure what she was sorry about but she knew it was in his nature to try and help her if he could. He was a good man, an honorable one, perhaps even too good for the likes of her.

"I'm sorry I scratched you too. Sometimes I can't help it." She whispered softly.

"Don't be sorry," he assured her, then chuckled as she apologized for scratching him. "I'll admit I kinda enjoyed it in th' moment. I'll wear it like a medal, love."

"It never had my fox come that close to the surface before." She admitted softly, looking up into his green eyes. "I mean...sometimes during a full moon I feel the need to roam but she's never come out like that before."

"I kinda like 'er," Sam murmured before kissing her lips lightly. "Y'don't have to hide her with me." With a sigh, he laid back and let his head rest in her lap.

Fiona simply stared at Sam as he told her that he liked her fox before lying back in the bed with his head resting in her lap. She played with his dark hair absently, thinking about his words. He didn't want her to hide from him.

"Maybe I should have her tattooed. Here." She murmured, touching her ribs on her right side absently. "Somewhere only you can see."

Sam's warm hand rose to lay over her own against her side, and he smiled absently at the thought. "Tha'd be a lovely sight..."

Fiona's fingers twined with his own as they both shared a moment together. "Maybe soon. When I gather my courage. And some money."

She leaned down and kissed Sam gently, nuzzling against his cheek before she pulled back and glanced towards the open door. "I should clean up the glass before Will gets home. He'll be worried that something happened while he was gone. And then I'll make us something to eat."

Sam sighed as he finally rose from her bed, but before she could dress, he pulled her in close for one more kiss as his hands rested almost possessively on her waist. "I love you," he murmured while his head rested against her own for a brief moment.

Fiona knew that he was worried. There were things that she had to do on her own, however. She would never, ever, allow her former life to effect Sam or any of his work. She loved him too much for that to happen.

"I love you too." Fiona murmured softly.

She kissed him one last time before she turned to get dressed again. As Sam was occupied, she turned and picked up the note. Rilor's familiar script was there and she felt her blood boil. He had no right to come back into her life after everything she had already been through.

The note was simple and plain:

You know you still owe me. One last job, and you'll never see hide nor hair of me again. I look forward to seeing you, kit. You know where to find me.
-RM

The threat was unwritten, but just as clear- he'd make her life hell if she didn't comply.

Fiona tucked the note back into her pocket and tried to push the incident out of her mind. She didn't want it to cloud the few last moments that she had with Sam before Will's return. The glass was cleaned up, window boarded up, and the sheets on her bed changed before she made them both a meal of rabbit and rice. They sat together outside on the front step eating in the sunshine, Sam dressed for his day and Fiona back in the gown that she had worn the night before.

"I'll go into town and see if anyone can fix the window. Then I'll have to tell Aleister, I suppose." Fiona murmured, leaning her cheek against Sam's shoulder. "I don't really know if I want you to go. These past few evenings have been lovely."

"Yer always welcome t'the keep," Sam reminded her. "Nosy as they are, most o' my family doesn' say much about things like tha' beyond welcomin' new people, an' maybe teasin' me."

"It's different, Sam." Fiona said as he reminded her that she could come to the keep. "I like keeping what we have private."

"I know, but if y'ever wanted me t'sneak you in..." He pressed a kiss to her cheek. "An' y'know I'm more'n willin' t'come to you."

"We'll figure it out, I guess." Fiona said softly. "Because I'm not letting you get very far away from me. I'm not sure that my heart could take it."

"Sappy as it sounds... I don' think mine could either, love. I just got comfortable with my life fer the first time in a long time." Sam's arm looped about her waist. "An' yer welcome t'call on me anytime y'like."

Fiona felt at home as Sam pulled her against his side, telling her that he felt the same way that she did about their being apart. "I'll cook you breakfast any time that you like. Even without the sex."

She smiled as she nuzzled against him, kissing his cheek before she went to finish her meal. Soon, they were walking into the town side by side, her mission to find someone to fix the broken window before Will returned.

"I'm fine, Sam. I promise. You don't need to keep me company when you have other things to do." She insisted, looking up at him as they paused at the edge of the market.

"Well I figured I ought t'come with ya a' least this far since it's on my way to the keep," Sam insisted before they finally parted with one last kiss. "See you soon, love." He smiled to her once more before going off to catch up with a small patrol on their way to the barracks.

Fiona smiled at Sam as he left her with one last kiss, promising to see her soon. She loved him, pure and simple. He made her so incredibly happy that she felt as if her heart would burst. And then she remembered the note in her pocket. There were things that needed to be taken care of before she could finally be comfortable with Samuel Ghis at her side.

She found a person that could have the window fixed quickly, the man promising to come by that afternoon to take a look. He knew Aleister and would discuss it with him as well. Left with a few coins, she moved on to her next mission.

There was a shady little pub in town, one that was favored by the criminals of Inverness. The patrols would walk past a few times a day, keeping the peace but generally leaving the people alone unless there was something serious going on. Fiona stepped past the door, letting it close behind her as the noises of conversation washed past her. As soon as she saw Rilor sitting at a table with a mug of ale, she saw red.

"How dare you." Fiona growled towards the werelion, stalking towards him as if she were going to do some real damage to him.

Rilor glanced up, and even from Fiona's perspective, she could see his free hand move to his dagger. He was deadly with a small blade, and had taught Fiona to be much the same when she was younger, though she'd never really had a reason to use those skills.

"We meet again," Rilor smirked.

"I should kill you now. No one would miss your sorry hide." Fiona practically spit at him, her blue eyes blazing as she saw his hand go towards his dagger. She was unarmed, but angry enough that she might have been able to take him down with her fists alone. "What could you possibly need of me?"
