"I'm Fiona Blackstone." Fiona said in greeting to the white wolf that was slowly making her way towards Roman and herself. "And this is Roman. News must be traveling fast in the village, I see."

"Many of our people left behind beloved drakes to come here. Seeing one again brings back fond memories." Suara greeted Roman then, taking his head in her hands and speaking to him in Erygonian kindly. "This must be a Mediterranean drake. His kind are bred to be fast swimmers as well as runners."

"They think that he came from Italy. He's still young and energetic." Fiona said as Suara took Roman calmly in hand and crooned to him like a long lost friend. "We haven't tried swimming yet. He's only recently healed from an attack."

"So one drake did survive," Suara murmured. "How odd... For Greeks to get involved with the isles." She looked back to Fiona. "I knew your grandfather. Lovely man, Ephriam. You have his eyes, you know."

"We still don't know why the Greeks were here. It might always be a mystery." Fiona said softly as Suara mentioned her grandfather. "He always loved the village. It was one of his joys when we would come in for the day. He always spoiled me with candy and food."

"You'll find many who loved him here," Suara told her with a smile. "He was Erygonian by descent, and we adopted him into the tribe not long before he passed. That means you, by descent, are technically a member too, and you are welcome here."

"My Da never wanted me to have anything to do with the tribe. I know he came often, but because I wasn't a fox like him, he was embarrassed." Fiona murmured as Suara told her that she was welcome there as an Erygonian.

"Owen was a spiteful sort who didn't like humans period," Suara said, shaking her head. "He was always trying to get humans thrown out of both tribes. Eventually the Lunars wouldn't even let him into their village. We allowed him for Ephriam's sake, really. But... that's over with now. And it's good to see Ephraim's dearest family member still around."

"Would you happen to know of a way to get into contact with the Olegsson's on the main land?" Fiona asked in a soft voice, wanting to reconnect with her mother's family and see if they were interested in having her as a part of it.

"I'm afraid I don't know of them, dear. But you might ask Asgeir Arnesson. He was a friend of your family. He's our resident fletcher."

"I might have to some day." Fiona said softly as Roman nudged at her impatiently. "I suppose I should get going. This brute doesn't like to stay put for very long and it's almost time for his weekly bath."

"Take care, cub," Suara told her with a smile before going on her way. Roman crouched down so Fiona could climb into his saddle more easily.

Fiona climbed onto Roman's back and hooked herself back into the harness. Once she was set, the pair of them set off for the loch. She wanted to let Roman swim for a while since the sun was full and hot. It would be a treat for the lovely drake that had captured her heart.

Once they were at the loch, she worked to pull the saddle from Roman's back and placed it and the saddle blanket on the ground beside her as she relaxed on the bank.

Once he was free, Roman took a running leap into the loch and soon he was gliding perfectly through the water with his tail as a rudder. He dove a few times, snapping up a couple fish for a snack. But at one point, he suddenly startled and came charging out of the water. It wasn't uncommon for that to happen to animals that swam in the loch, and it would rarely happen to people too. The few people it had happened to claimed that something huge wrapped around they leg or foot for a moment as if investigating, though they were never hurt or pulled under.

Fiona glanced at Roman as he started and came out of the water quickly. She frowned slightly, tilting her head to the side as he looked at the water as if he were trying to figure out what had happened.

"What's the matter, beastie?" She asked him softly as she stood and came to his side to look into the water for herself. "A fish get the better of you?"

Roman took a couple tentative steps into the shallows again, and apparently he saw something because the fur along his spine bristled in warning and he let out a vicious growl, moving between whatever he'd seen and Fiona.

"Roman." Fiona said softly as he growled viciously and got between herself and the water. "It's alright. There's nothing there."

She wondered what he saw in the depths of the loch. He seemed to be excited and agitated by it, bristling at the thought that it might come out and get to his mistress.

"Fiona?" A voice called, and Ria came walking down the beach. "Something wrong?" She looked af Roman and followed his gaze into the water, but she saw nothing. Then again, drakes' eyes worked s little differently from humans.

"Nothing's wrong. Roman got spooked by something in the loch." Fiona said as she saw Ria coming her way. "He's a superstitious beastie sometimes. I think a fish nibbled on him and now he thinks that he has to protect me."

"Maybe it's the dragon," Ria grinned, reaching out to stroke Roman's neck. "It happened to Gerald once too. He swears it was something huge."

"I doubt that Inverness kipper would wake just to brush against unsuspecting swimmers." Fiona said as she looked towards Ria and then at Roman. "I still think it was a large fish. You were eating them as fast as you could, beastie. You might have made one mad."

Roman still stared into the depths, his long tail swishing with agitation. Ria only chuckled at him, turning away. But in that moment, just for a split second, a glimmer of teal in the water caught Fiona's eye. But then it was gone.

Fiona was stock still for a moment as she saw that glimmer of teal in the water. What in the world had that been, she asked herself as she glanced at Roman and then gently reached out to touch his neck. Surely she hadn't seen...a dragon....

"Roman, perhaps we should head to the farm." She murmured softly.

Roman finally backed off, walking back to his saddle and blanket but never taking his eyes off the water. Ria followed them and helped Fiona fasten the saddle back in place. "Come by the tavern sometime, love," Ria told her. "I miss seeing you and Will around."

"We will. Maybe tomorrow night." Fiona said as she pulled herself back into the saddle, feeling Roman still tense. "Will might eat you out of house and home. I think he's going through a growing period right now."
