Hold up just for one Mish, what sexual impropriety was he accused of? I heard the story of him handing a coke can with a pubic hair on it to uh...umm...what's her face. Anita Hill did not accuse Thomas of handing her a Coke with an unidentified hair on it, she said that he joked about a Coke with a pubic hair on the rim. She also alleged that he ignored her repeated refusals to accept a date, and attempted to discuss a porn named Long Dong Silver.

I am not saying her allegations are true or not. I am pointing out that politics colors perceptions here - Anita Hill was instantly dismissed by the GOP as uncredible in her assertions, and the Democrats instantly dismissed Paula Jones in her allegations. Yes, I believe that Hill's allegations are more plausible, but I also believe that both men were guilty of improper behavior.

As for disliking Thomas, my opinion of him does not hinge on the color of his skin. I openly criticize Thomas because his opinions are often absurd. When a Justice repeatedly cannot find a single other Justice to concur in an opinion (and on a conservative bench, no less), then I suggest that he is interpreting the law in an implausible way.

I worked in D.C. during the Lewinsky debacle, and I was involved in a trial in the same courthouse where Lewinsky had to make a few appearances.
