I have always been a big fan of the Claire’s Career (Seth Perm) and Annie babysits (DOCcis) stores and always felt there was a lot more story to tell - but Seth doesn’t write any more and DOCcis passed away..

But I’ve always hoped that someone would write some more stories with these characters. I suck at writing, but would love if someone could continue them

It violates Lit rules to appropriate another writer's characters without consent (though there are periodic debates over in the Author's Hangout about the extent of the dule's application, anybody that visits here often knows I am a stickler about the author's moral rights to their characters)
(see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_v_Eaton_Centre_Ltd)

i assume some sorta of permission would be required as per Seth/claire...(i have seen i think one other person do that already)... though not sure how permission would be aquired in the case of Doc suffering a slight case of death... i just assume if someone did they would a "in honor of..." or "in memory of..." note...

One just has to wait for, what it is 75 years? Until the work goes into public domain and then any derivative is a fair opportunity, supposedly.

But until then, one may indeed reference something as "inspired by" or maybe even "based on" something, but otherwise undoubtedly their own.

Then again, what is it what makes you want to condition perception of your own work on some prior knowledge of some other work? Why your laziness should transfer into more work for your readers?

C'mon, guys. Stories at Literotica are posted anonymously. None of us are making money off it, and none of our postings are linked to our real identities. I understand and agree with sirhugs comments about "moral rights," but in reality, if you want to rip off, er, ah, I mean, pay homage to someone else's characters and situations, there is really nothing to stop you, or to punish you.

Morals or potential Lit rules aside, do we have to look up both authors to see if we even enjoy the genre? One would think you'd give a synopsis here in Story Ideas...

Also for the Annie story - technically DOCcis rewrote the story based on someone else’s story originally(with permission)… so I am curious how that would work - would you need docs or his family permission or would you need the originals writers permission?

Also doesn’t copy write law only apply to things that you applied copy write to?

But anyway I get they can be done without permission - I just wish they could.

Doccis' family has given permission to anyone to write within that universe or to continue Annie's story. They even posted the outline he worked out, right down to links to YouTube showing the strip routines he chose for her in a future chapter.
