Civil War Re-enactors

I graduated with a kid who did that. He was brilliant in some really weird ways.

He brought a cannon that he built to my 16th birthday party.

Truly an unforgettable gift. Or was it not a present, but sort of a companion, like "this goes with me everywhere"?

I like the shoes that are neither left nor right.

Betting on the outcome is a good way to make some money if you know what you're doing.

It was a gift as in, "Hey look I brought entertainment". His companion is a skull named Garcia that he keeps on his dashboard.

Been one for 5 years now. Artillery mostly. Do some scouting and dismount cav as well

I didn't say that I had only just learned about them. I merely wanted to know what you all think about them. Because I don't get it.

Now that is damn interesting. No one like that ever comes to my parties. People just stand around and talk about their kids.

Ever play cowboys and indians as a kid? Pretty much sums it up. Camp for a weekend and play war, hopfully teach people something. Many of the history book are one sided or flat out wrong

If I'm present at a re-enactment, I'm mostly there taking pictures or harssing the guys I know who are participating

We have people that do that. We call em groupies. Last year I was on the gun that opened the 150th battle of shiloh reenactment. This year ill be at gettysburg

Ooo! Fun :)

I don't know if I qualify as a groupie, I only come if I get a text asking me to bring pie or take pictures.

I had an aunt who loved to photograph the reenactments. It's a shame that she's not alive to see the sesquicentennial.

Some people dress up and go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, some people dress up like Confederate or Union Soldiers.

It takes all kinds.
