there has been, recently, due to a lot of hype against uncircumsized men, by women, to say all men should be circumcised. ok, if that's the case, if that is what you want, lets do the same to you FIRST.

*cringes*
Ouch Ivan!

My son is circumcised - I left the decision up to my husband.
My nephew is not, his father is from Hungary and its apparently not traditional there.
Ok - so no deep thoughts here, just random ramblings.....

I live in the UK where it's not the norm to circumcise male children so have no problem with uncircumcised men-in fact it was strange to me to have sex with a guy who'd been cut

however, I do take objection on one issue-female circumcision is not the same thing at all...and I realise this will kill this thread deader than a dodo...

Thank you Janey for that... I thought the same thing when I read this ridiculous post. I think it is funny, because in my circles it seems to be all the rage NOT to circumcise the male child. So it is a decision that should be left to the parents and has nothing to do with the female section of the race at large. Some women like it, some don't.... it is a preference, not a world movement.

I'm uncut and have problem with it,nor do I hear any complaints.....in fact....it can be fun if used the right..............anywho......my uncle(2 years younger than I ) was cut when he who 16 yrs old.........and I got two words for you. .fuck that! !!!!

I'm in agreement with the two ladies above...with a male child it should be the parents decision. Perhaps a bit unfair to the child, he should have a say in the matter, but from what I've read/heard, it IS better to have it done as a child.

Now, female circumcision/mutilation...I just googled that and saw some photos. As Slow Rides uncle said....FUCK THAT! If someone had cut on my fun girl parts I'd thoroughly pissed and tempted to go after them with a gun!

"Fun girl parts" I like that ;)

The trends do not come from women directly. They come from whatever the most current baby 'expert' says and it filters down through the mothers and fathers from that. It's the same deal with breast feeding. Look to history for your answers, not to sexist ideals based with little fact.

fuck both of them. cutting someone , even a child, is just dead wrong. especially if no consent is given. if someone wants it, let them grow up and make the decision themselves.

here in america there was a growing trend to not circumsize during the 90's and early 00's. now, you keep seeing these articles popping up giving reasons why it should be done. well, if it is done, wait until the person is older and can make the decision themselves. it is hard to tell what kind of trauma doing this to an infant actually causes. no one knows. but that is a human being you are doing this too without their consent. and that is just fucked up.

Interesting thread. As a Nurse, who has worked in a Pediatric environment as well as a stint in a newborn nursery, it is always interesting to hear the differing opinions. I've witnessed and even assisted in several circs, and I can most assuredly say that if an adult male was having one, I feel certain it would be a) More mentally traumatic, b) more pain medication would be required than what is given to the little guys, and c) would be a much more involved procedure due to sheer size alone.

I will agree there are certainly trends that dictate or at the very least influence one's opinion about the matter. Now - personal opinion - its just cleaner! A circ'd penis is just cleaner - less dark, damp areas for microorganisms to hang out and party!

Actually, I'm sorry but I don't agree with genital mutilation of either sex especially when there is no consent.

In the UK it is not done as a matter of course and not as a choice for parents but only if medically necessary. I'm a nurse too and general good hygiene is more than sufficient to keep those areas clean

My point about FGM has been lost-this is abuse of the most hideous kind done to hundreds of thousands of young girls and women as a form of cultural subjugation-often without anaesthetic and with dirty instruments. There is a huge campaign against it and the concenring thing is that where once girls were taken abroad to have this torture inflicted on them, this is now being done here in the UK amongst certain communities and therefore more than likely elsewhere too

It must stop

there's a thing called soap and water. teach the kid how to clean properly.
with the mentality of "less dark, damp areas" then women should have bits lopped off.
come on...................give me a break.

You're absolutely correct - soap and water should do the trick. Problems occur when people - of EITHER gender- don't take care of their parts.

Ugh, I think it's covered under some insurance plans here in the states. I asked my sister-in-law why she had her son done and she gave me a blank look and said, "Isn't that just what's done?" I wanted to throttle her. When we were having our second child I did a lot of reading, educating myself and hubby on the pros and cons, and came to the conclusion we would never subject our baby boy to that procedure. We ended up having another girl, but dammit, I wanted to be informed. I think too many here in the states just 'go with the flow', and it's maddening.

Hubby and I talked to our parents about it and come to find out, both of our dads are uncirc'd, though oddly enough, hubby is.

And Janey, I've heard those terrible stories, and read a few true accounts, too. They are heartbreaking.
