Risk Of Autism Doubled Due To Circumcision: Study

A research study by scientists at the Statens Serum Institut (SSI), a sector research institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, has found that circumcision before a boy turns five years old could double the risk of being affected by autism spectrum disorder, a condition which affects the way that a person interacts with others and causes impairment in thinking and social areas. The study took into account the situation of more than 340,000 boys in Denmark who were below the age of 10. The finding of the study was published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine.

According to The Australian, the study found that the chances of a circumcised boy below the age of 10 being affected by autism was increased by 46 percent. It was also found that if the boy was circumcised before the age of 5, the risks of ASD was doubled. The study likewise discovered that the chances of boys from non-Muslim families undergoing circumcision developing hyperactivity disorder was higher. The scientists were of the belief that the finding could be linked to stress that was caused by the suffering during the procedure.

Discuss.

Nonsense. It happens to occur in boys more often by 5 or 6 to one, but it also occurs in girls and they do not have the procedure done. The fact that it made no difference in on population tells you that it just happens to be more prevalent in families that tend to circumcise. This is correlation equals causation of the worst sort.

It is the same sort of fatally flawed "studies" that allegedly linked autism to vaccinations.

The increase in autism diagnoses is simply because we now include a lot of different syndromes, some very under-reported and benign under the autism spectrum umbrella.

There is another nonsensical "study' out there that concludes that gene-splicing by Monsanto correlates with the spectrum.

Most moslem males are not circumcised until after age 7.

What doesn't cause autism?

As some one who gets what they used to call "sensory overload," I would say that environmental stimulus may cause it or at least brings it out.

These days there is so much noise, lights esp. blue lights of fluorescent bulbs, smells-everything seems scented, tastes, textures. In foods there are so many ingredients or trace ingredients.

You're a veritable Renaissance man in the way you offer learned commentary on every single topic to cross the GeeBee.

Without exception.

Kudos to you.

Autism is caused by a defect on a chromosome. Scientists are still working on it.

So if only our parents hadn't dropped so much acid?

I think that they problem is way older than that but I can't imagine that being overly beneficial.

ETA: But really, who the hell knows for sure??

My parents were Bohemians ;)

I'm more concerned about the fact that apparently sometimes babies get their dicks sliced clean off. Because I found out that's a thing. And I mean, yeah, the book I read said it was only 3-5% of cases but... really it only needs to happen once for me to be like, "Maybe... don't cut on my kid's dick."

And this is coming from a guy who's all for circumcised dick. But... Idk. I know it's a ridiculously small chance, probably never gonna happen- but what if he WAS that 3%. What if the universe aligned against my baby and I let it happen?

I think you might want to check your data. Perhaps 0.03%. Otherwise you'd be talking thousands of kids per year nationwide. I'm sure 20-20 or 60 Minutes would have picked up on that.

Per the CDC (www.cdc.gov/nchs/births.htm)

Data for United States in 2012. Number of births: 3,952,841. Figure roughly 50/50 male/female (1,476,420 each), 3%-5% would mean between 44,300 and 76,800 kids with no penis. Even lopping off (no pun) a couple of decimal points would still be 443-768 kids. I think that would make the news.

the other day, in the not so far past, there was an article about the benefits of circumcision in regards to contraction of sexually transmitted diseases. something like you run a greater risk of STD's if you aren't cut. part of me says that's like saying women are more likely to get an STD, because all of there stuff is tucked away and vulnerable to more infection. maybe that's true. the labeling of circumcision as good or bad or plain out devil worshiping evil doesn't float with me. it is both cultural and religious. genital modification in the name of cleanliness.

by that same token of cleanliness, you then have to question yourselves as to the rights preformed around female genital mutilation, and ask yourselves the same questions. then there is a horrible conflict of interests. so men can be cut, don't worry, they will have their pleasure, but females must remain intact regardless of ones cultural history? the feminist in me screams both ways.
