How do you get that smell out of a room?

the #1 way: don't smoke in it.

but if that's impossible, clean it, don't use scented stuff, use odor neutralizing stuff, mop the walls, wash everything you can, febreze everything you can't, vacuum the carpet, and you should be pretty good.

Paint is the only way. Put a good coat of Kilz on it after you have scrubbed it with TSP...then paint.

I've heard that saucers of white vinegar sitting on the floors for day, plus a white vinegar and ammonia solution for the walls.

We plan on repainting too...

They smoked in this house too... that stale smell that covers everything dude... smoking in a house is stupid unless the smoker is willing to clean up when they leave.

i hated the smell of this house, i'm still doing my cleaning and re-filling the smell in the air.

that's the only way i've ever really found to get teh smell completely out is to take the smell out of everything and replace it with your own smell.
