we belong to a catholic parish in south jersey.

before i retired, i did a fair amount of pro bono legal work for our parish and came to know some of the parish folks very well.

one of them shared with me that a group of our older parishioners -- 40 and older -- started an underground swap group. i was stunned to learn about this and about some of the couples who participate in this group.

my wife will have nothing to do with it, sadly. but i just cant stop fantasizing about it and about the ladies in the group.

is any familiar with anything like this in their congregation or neighborhood?

No, but holy cow! If I heard about something like that at a neighborhood church, I might actually start going!

If its a underground group then its not likely its going to be common knowledge , i cant see why its unusual, there must be groups like that in all organisations, just like a need to know,. It actually sounds exciting

Somewhere between the late 90s and about 2002, there was a group of people in my church that got involved in a purported hedge fund. The fund manager was particularly charismatic and preached a version of the "prosperity gospel." The members of the fund started hanging out at meetups together where they would share life-affirming things and comparing their 3% per month returns on investment. They were wealthy to begin with, so a lot of wives were getting cosmetic surgery and everyone was wearing fancy clothing and driving fancy cars. Meetups turned into vacations together, turned into wife swapping, turned into full-blown swinger parties, all under the effect of feeling God's blessings of prosperity and wealth.

When the tech bubble first popped in like 2001 (? my memory of this was unclear), it came out that the whole "hedge fund" was really a Ponzi scheme. Then the members of the fund realized they had lost huge chunks of personal wealth, and that their leader was a fraud. Then jealousies emerged due to the swapping/swinging. Ultimately a bunch of people were too ashamed of losing so much money and engaging in adultery (prohibited by the church) and stopped coming to church.

he is someone who i in th egroup. he reached out to me to see if my wife and i would be interested in participating
My husband and I have been active in the swing community for more years than I care to admit, but when you enter a swing club, it's kind of obvious who is interested in swinging. But if I were looking for interest among my fellow church-goers, exactly how does one present that sort of inquiry?

I have recently been introduced to a group of friends that are into swinging. In this case the group has been in existence for about 20 years. I believe it started as two couples swapping and gradually included other couples. There are 14 couples and a few fringe singles. People who have split up or gotten divorced over the years. They do not do a lot of big parties these days but it does provide a list of like minded people to invite to parties, etc. It is not a church group but I could see that happening in a church where people have known each other for a long time and share things in common. Religion does tend to arouse the passions. Someone just has to put the right spin on it to get people buying in.

and they are still part of the swinging group?
I am new to the group but as I understand it, there are only a few of them and they are often invited to gathering depending on what the host is trying to set up. One of the single guys introduced me to the group and he does not attend parties unless he has a date. I believe that one of the single women is bi and is quite popular with some of the couples.

Lol, this enough to make me religious again! 😝

From what I have read and spoken to people over the years, swingers prefer to stay in their own groups. That means ethnic, religious, socio economic, etc. Every story is from same house of worship, condo building, country club. This makes sense.
In college, some friends of mine started a group. My roommate was furious that he was not invited to join. I told him neither of us would have joined, so big deal. He said yeah, but he wanted to be asked!

Swinging/swapping is more common than people realize. That is NOT to say any significant percentage of the population is doing it, but it is to say that it's happening, on some level, pretty much everywhere.

Put enough people in close proximity and some of them will start fucking... and not always with the people they're "supposed" to be fucking.
True. We found a lot of couples that will swing if given the opportunity. Usually after the kids are grown.

i worked closely with him on a legal matter involving our parish. over the months, we became very friendly, and our wives became friendly also. one night over drinks one evening, the conversation tuned to similar topics. at one point, he told me about thr group and some of the parishoners who were in the group..

Man I used to live in Toms River, how I wish I knew about that group and go there.. I wonder if you got to have fun with the group. I know your wife didn't go.. but did you go alone?

no...i wasnt invited alone sadly. i wish i had been. would love to chat in pvt about this.....

I'm over 60 and I've lived a full life, traveled overseas many times. And I have never, ever heard any kind of serious talk from anyone about swinging. I believe the people online. I just have a different experience. My life on the line, I couldn't find a swinger if I had to.

And to keep something like that a secret in a church...it would have to be a humongous church for everyone not to know.

I'm reminded of the old saying, "Two may keep a secret if one them is dead."

Loose lips...Exhibit "A" for why this is a bad idea.

I agree that it would have to be a larger church but I can imagine Thursday night bible study being a lot more fun than the one I attended in my youth. Like you, I would have no idea of how to find a group except that someone took me and introduced me to a group. I have read of several groups in retirement communities and I know of two groups here in AZ. One I am sure of and one I am pretty sure but not positive.

I found out in the 80s that a certain group of elders in a church I went to would, for a fee, let you have your choice of one of their wives for the night. I initially handed over a reasonable sum of money (half my monthly pay!!!) and had a great night with a brunette who, as it turned pout, was a very skilled lover. As a result of treating that one woman like an equal and a lover rather than a paid-for pussy to use (and her telling other women in the same situation), I ended up with a group of them taking cash from the safe at the back of the church to give to me to "pay" for them. I had sex, including MFF threesomes, with 5 or 6 unappreciated and hugely sexy women for a long years! Looking back now, I am staggered that the men who organised it all managed to keep it a secret but grateful that my skills as a lover got me some of the best sex I have ever had...
I am still a little ambivalent as to why I handed over the money in the first place!!

My wife and I discovered our local ‘friends’ group sort of by accident – although there was no church involved.

After living in the Big Smoke for about 20 years, my wife and I moved out to one of the smarter fringe villages. Most of the villagers had lived there all of their lives. But there were a few other couples in their 40s and 50s who, like us, had escaped from the city. The long-time residents referred to us as The In-comers’.

After my wife and I had been living in the village for a few weeks, we invited one of the other escapee couples (who seemed very friendly) to join us for Saturday night supper. ‘Just casual,’ I told M, the female half. ‘You know… knickers optional.’

She frowned, but then smiled and nodded. ‘Oh… yes. Right. Yes.’

Come Saturday, we all seemed to get on really well. We had a few wines. We chatted. We had some food. We had some more wine. And then M steered me off to one side and said: ‘Look, if we’re going to fuck, we should probably do it soon. If Tim has any more to drink, he probably won’t be able to perform.’

Kapow! I hadn’t seen that coming. Still…. ‘OK. Just let me have a quiet word with my better half,’ I said.

I think we must have passed our audition. Over the next few weeks we were introduced to three other local couples.

Big surprise; people that go to church like kinky sex too.

I just saw a program on TV; a who-dun-it sort of show, but real life. In it this wife came out of choir practice to her car... and bang, five times, shot dead.

It took the police awhile to figure it out, but the church-going wife was having an affair with a guy that liked FFM threesomes. The killer ended up being the other woman... a stay at home married housewife...who was blackmailed by the man to kill the church wife lady for ending the relationship. A pretty cold kill too; she had sperm in her from him stil, at the autopsy, meaning he had sex with her KNOWING she was set up to be killed two days later.
