Budang! Budang! Budang!

Even after all this time, even after all these years, even after all these world changing events, Nadia's bell still rings across the land. Every day at noon. 3 rings. 3 rings is all it takes to let the world know that it's still here. Leene square has long since been abandoned. Truice vilage, no more. The kingdom of Guardia.... dead. Noone knows who rings this legendary bell, if there is indeed someone ringing it. Few even remember the purpose of Nadia's bell, or understand what the name signifies. Only one thing is truily known. Every day when the sun reaches it's zenith, 3 sounds spread across the land, 3 tolls, reminding us that were still here. 3 rings to tell us that there's still hope.

Budang! Budang! Budang.....

OOC: Okay everyone. From now on I will refer to myself as Frog, though I am in fact Glenn (CT Glenn). If you need more information, see my original thread.

IC: Frog heard the tolls from Nadia's bell ring across the land. The loud bongs brought back memories, and he stopped and looked to the sky. Flashing through his mind was images of Chrono, and Marle, and Lucca, and all the others... the adventures they had had, the enemies they had thought, the world they had saved... it seemed so long ago now. He slowly drew the Masamune and held it above his head. It rippled with a beauty unknown by any other sword in the world; And staring into the blade brought back even more memories. And yet, as he looked again, the Masamune shone with a strange light, a light he had never seen before... a dark light. Was it trying to tell him something? However, as he concentrated on it, the light dissapeared. He shook his head and returned the sword to its sheath.
"The years hath brought shadows into thy mind, Frog." he thought.
And he continued his journey, in search of Chrono.

OOC: even though Schala is a set character so no arguing erupts I will adopt another character.. I will be Marle

IC: Marle leaned against the town square statue her eyes closed memories rushing through her head as they often did when the bells rang. It was then she felt a sudden heaviness fill her heart. Opening her eyes she frowned and glanced around. What was wrong. Shaking her head she pushed away from the statue deciding that she had to find Chrono.

Magus

A lone figure stands in a clearing on a mountain, north of the place once known as Truce Village. In his right hand he holds a deadly scythe, while his left hand rests upon the protective amulet given to him by his beloved sister long ago as a child. A gentle breeze plays with his silver hair and violet cape, as he remembers the first time he entered this clearing many years ago. He is known as Magus: The Shadow Mage.

Magus's memories of Schala and his journey through the time portal are pushed aside though, as he senses something far too familiar...

-The dark wind begins to blow-

Through his knowledge of time travel Magus realizes that something has gone seriously wrong with time. Something would have to be done quickly or the damage would be severe.

"With the Gates still inactive, what could the source of this disturbance be?" Magus wondered. "I won't be able to solve this alone." he thought to himself. <sigh> "It would seem I have no choice but to locate Frog." "Oh well, I might as well get on with it." And with that final thought Magus set out to find the warrior who was both friend and foe alike.

"Chrono, Chrono, you have to come quick!"

Crono looked up in a drunkan haze. He took a minute to recognize his good friend Lucca. Giving her a drunkenly confuzed look he encoureged her to continue. "Oh, comeon Crono, you have too see it. I almost don't believe it myself!" She grabbed chrono's arm and half dragged him outside the tavern.

Once outside, she hit him with a fire attack. The burns sobered him up quickly.

----------------------

"Over here Chrono!" she gestured, climbing over some stalagmites. They were in a cave south of Medina. Mystic workers were hard at work, excavating the rocks. Chrono followed Lucca. He rounded a corner and his eyes shot open. He took a step backwards in shock and almost feer.

"I know" said Lucca, just as fearfull. "We destroyed it. The only way to penetrate Lavos's shell, but there it is."

Half bueried in a wall of solid rock, looking as if the wall formed around it, was the epoch.

Magus

OOC: Ok Cryo, for an explanation of my previous post we'll say that Magus is capable of traveling through time using arcane magic as you suggested. He had come to the year 1007 in order to find Chrono only to discover Guardia fallen and Truce destroyed by the Porre army. Since the only ships now belong to Porre he is unable to leave the continent to look for him. Therefore he will now travel back to 607 in an attempt to find Frog.

IC: Magus stepped from the swirling blue portal only to find himself surrounded by a dozen skeletons bearing swords. "There he is!" one of them screeched. "The one who cursed us with this miserable existence!"

The skeletons in front of him had once served as his minions during his attempt to conquer the kingdom of Guardia. "Terrific," Magus thought. "As if I didn't have enough to deal with already."

As the first skeleton charged forward shrieking "Kill him!" Magus soared above them to rest on a nearby boulder. "If you wish to leave this mortal coil so badly, I'd be happy to oblige you." Summoning the power of fire he quickly obliterated the undead warriors. They were finally at peace.

Having dealt with that annoyance, Magus then focused his thoughts and began to concentrate on the task at hand. Knowing that it would take far too long to search the entire continent for Frog, he instead extended his senses in order to locate the Masamune. "How fortunate," Magus said to himself. "He seems to be heading this way now."

OOC: Hope you don't mind me sending your character toward Truce Mountain, Dark Warrior. It just seemed logical that Frog would be looking for a way to get from 607 to 1007, and this was the only place on the continent that ever had a Gate. Between Magus' magic and the recently recovered Epoch, it shouldn't take too long to reassemble the team.

OOC: Sounds good, Celeb Lover.

IC: Frog trudged along, the masamune by his side. He looked up and saw the looming figure of Truce Mountain. He knew it would only be an hour or so before he reached the Mountain. Suddenly, he felt energy pulsing around the Masamune, and he looked down. There was a small dark aura around the blade for a moment, before it dimmed and dissapeared. Frog looked back again at Truce Mountain.
"That was Magus." he thought with sudden surprise. He placed one hand on his blade.
"Magus, what dost thou want with me?" He muttered to himself.

Magus

"I guess there's no point standing around waiting for him." Hovering a foot above the ground Magus began to descend toward the foot of the mountain.

As he traveled he considered what Frog's attitude toward him might be. While circumstances had forced them to fight along side each other 7 years ago, there were still issues between the two. The fact that he had killed his best friend Cyrus right in front of him certainly didn't help any. Normally he wouldn't be troubled by what others thought of him except that this particular person just happened to wield the one sword that could stand against his magic.

"Better to be safe than sorry." Magus decided, and began to weave spells of protection around himself.

Frog

Frog pulled the Masamune out of its sheath as he noticed Magus waiting at the foot of the mountain.
"Magus? It has been a long time." Frog said, getting into combat stance, the bright blade of his sword flashing in the sun. "Be thou here as friend or foe?"

Magus

"Peace Frog," said Magus. "I suspect that we are here for the same reason." "We both wish to find Chrono, correct?"

"Agreed." said Frog, relaxing a bit.

"I believe our best chance lies in working together." Magus continued. "I have recently traveled to 1007 in an attempt to locate our allies, only to find Truce Village destroyed and Guardia occupied by Porre soldiers."

"Surely thou art jesting!" Frog exclaimed.

"Unfortunately, I speak the truth." Magus replied. "Fear not though, I believe Chrono is still alive and has merely fled elsewhere." "However, in order to find him I will need your help to bypass the enemy." "Shall we join forces ?" he asked.

Frog

Frog put the Masamune away slowly, still somewhat suspicious of the mage. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He finally made up his mind.
"Very well, Magus. Let us find Chrono, and perhaps together we may work out what *exactly* is going on here." Frog said, stepping towards Magus in a sign of friendship. Magus nodded silently.
"Dost thou know if the Gate above us is still open?" he asked of the shadowy member.

Magus

"As of yet the Gates remain closed." Magus responded. "We must reach our destination using magic." "If you are prepared I will begin the spell now."

"When thou art ready, Magus." Frog replied with a nod. "Let us begin our journey."

With that affirmation Magus began to speak the words of the time travel spell for the third time that day. Magic such as this required large quantities of power. Magus knew he would have to rest soon. Finally the Gate formed before them. Magus staggered forward a few steps and almost stumbled when he found himself steadied by a strong hand.

"Dost thou require assistance?" Frog asked.

A bit surprised at this generous offer Magus said to him, "I thank you for your concern but I am simply fatigued." "Let us continue."

A few moments later they exited the Gate in 1007 only to be met by 20 soldiers of the Porre army. They looked anything but friendly.

Realizing they had no other choice but to defend themselves, Frog again drew the Masamune and asked, "Shall we even the odds, Magus?"

There was no reply from behind him.

"Magus?"

Still no reply.

Glancing behind him Frog saw that Magus had collapsed from exhaustion. "Thou hast picked a lousy time to taketh a nap, Magus." he muttered under his breath.

OOC: I figured something would have to go wrong sooner or later. This would be a good time for another character to show up and help out if anyone is interested.

Frog

Frog turned to the soldiers. He held the Masamune above his head and it gave a slight sparkle, before the first three soldiers ran towards him.
Frog ducked away from the first blow, parried the next, and then parried the third also, before attacking himself. He swung the broadword in a wide arc, and the three soldiers stood still for a moment. After 2 seconds, the soldier's top halves fell from their bottom halves.
Frog had just a few seconds to recover before the next wave of soldiers would attack. He glanced behind him at the slumped form.
"Magus... I could do with thy help..." he muttered, before reading the Masamune once more.

Lucca

Tapping Crono on the shoulder trying to pry him away from the sight before them, "Chrono, theres too many mystics and if we dont find help soon they may of uncovered much more."

Thinking that Crono may still be a tad drunk she turns him forcefully around, without a word spoken, Lucca can see that he has sobered up instantly and only the shock is on his face now.

With one last look the pair tread off slowly towards town.

"It should be excavated in about a day." said lucca, anticipating Chrono's question. "When it comes out, I'm going to find out why it's there, and how long it was there."

They were travelling together for about a year now. When guardia fell, it was everything they could do to get on a ship and flee the continent. In the chaos of the docks, marle got seperated from them, and Lucca wouldn't let him go back. Since then they've been residing in Medina, Chrono getting drunk on a daily basis in his sorry.

He took a swig of a beer before going to sleep. Lucca saw him and figured what he was thinking. She stepped over and sat next to him, rubbing her hand on his shoulder. "don't worry chrono. I'm sure she's still alive. we'll go find her. Tommorow I'll fix the Epoch and we'll fly over there first thing." Chrono looked at his childhood friend in appreaciation. He put down the drink and went to sleep.

Magus

While the death cries of the soldiers were enough to bring Magus to his senses, he was still a bit groggy. Looking around, he saw that Frog had already slain a handful of their attackers, but now the advantage of surprise was gone.

"We must extricate our selves from this situation quickly, or risk being captured." Magus thought to himself. "But in my current state, I fear that I will be of little help."

The soldiers now had Frog surrounded on all sides. Realizing he had no choice left, Magus gathered his remaining magic and summoned forth bolts of lightning, intending to strike down as many enemies as he could before finally slumping to the ground unconscious.

Frog stopped for a moment, regaining his breath. He had slain 7 of the soldiers, but already he was growing tired.
"I shall fall if this continues..." he thought as the next soldiers began to ran at him. He prepared the Masamune once more. The blade was already edged with a fair amount of blood.
Suddenly, as the soldiers closed in, Frog heard a quiet chant behind him. He turned to see Magus, on his knees, gathering energy in his palms. Then, with one final word of power, Magus sent forth a volley of lightning bolts. Then, as his spell finished, Magus fell back to the ground.
Frog turned to see that a further 6 of the soldiers had fallen at Magus' spell. Of the remaining, 7, 3 fled at the sight of the magic. The remaining 4 were shocked, and Frog seized his advantage and used the last of his energy to shoot forward and hack down 2 soldiers before they could react. The next 2 soldiers attacked, but Frog dodged their swords and brought his own around on one of them. When he fell, the last soldier hacked down and dealt a blow to Frog's arm. Frog gave a grunt, before slicing out and killing the unsuspecting soldier. He put away the Masamune and held his arm. The wound was bleeding, but it was not too deep. Then, Frog crouched down next to the prone Magus and laid a hand on his back.
"Magus, I owe thou my life. For that, I shall do what I can to save you..." he said, and he prepared to cast a healing spell on Magus. It was only a weak spell, but it would have to do.

OMG! Frog slurped Magus!

IC; Come morning, Chrono found Lucca huddled over the Epoch. It was excavated and carried to medina square.

The ship was in bad shape. It had gouges and holes everywhere, as well as a huge portion of the glass dome broken and missing. Lucca was fiddeling around inside one of the panels in the side. "Let's see, if I just connect this.....THERE!"

the ship suddenly powered up. As they watched, it began to fix itself! the dome melted back into shape, the holes dissapeared, Even the paint job seemes to be redone.

"I know what your thinking" Lucca said to chrono as she wiped her hands. "I'm amazing. Though the odd thing is it seems like the power coil was intentionally disconnected!" SHe let chrono contemplate that as she jumped into the cockpit. She pushed a few buttons and flicked a few switches.

"Hey, chrono. I've brought up the jump history. It seems that the Epock last jumped from 12,008 BC to 1 BC. I wonder why there?" She fiddled with the controls a little more. "Well, the ship only has enough power for 3 more jumps. We should go find Melchior and see if he knows how to recharge it."

Marle approached the town exhausted from a night of non-stop travel. She had been searching for Chrono day and night and had yet to find him. Leaning tiredly against the tavern wall she took a moment to rest. To tired to really pay attention she didn't see the group of men till they were right in front of her and had her surrounded. It would seem she had rested in a dark alley of all places. "Damn it" she cursed softly straitening. Their were about five of them and she knew this wasn't going to be easy. Taking a deep breath one of the attackers lunged only to be impaled on a small blade that she carried. Then all the rest attacked at once.

Magus

Magus awoke to the sound of a crackling campfire. Opening his eyes he found himself in a forest clearing. Judging by the position of the moon, night had fallen only a few hours ago.

"I see thou hast finally awakened." said Frog, sitting watch nearby. Shifting his gaze toward his traveling companion, he saw that he had been injured. A blood-stained bandage was tied around his left arm. "It is only a minor wound." Frog said casually. "Thou need not be overly concerned."

Reaching into his cloak pocket, Magus pulled out one of the many small bags of magical healing herbs he had brought along for emergencies. Handing it to Frog he said, "A poultice made from these special herbs will make your wound heal more quickly."

"My thanks." said Frog, accepting the gift gratefully. "If thou art hungry, I hath prepared a small meal whilst awaiting your recovery."

Smelling the savory pair of rabbits roasting on the spit above the fire, Magus suddenly realized he was ravenous. He sorely needed to recover his energy after using so much magic.

Once they had eaten and tended to their wounds, they soon fell asleep. Tomorrow, they would require all their strength in order to steal one of the heavily guarded ships that would take them to Chrono.

Frog rested uneasily. His dream was a strange one... he found himself in a black void, with nothing around him. Faintly, in the distance, he saw a glow, and he identified it as the Masamune. He began to run towards it, but no matter how far he ran, he could get no closer. After a while, he became tired, and collapsed to his hands and knees, struggling for breath. When he looked up once more, the two strange creatures, Masa and Mune, the spirits of the Masamune, stood in front of him, looking at him, as if judging him. Then Mune turned to his brother.
"Masa... is he fit to wield the Masamune still?"
"I do not know, Mune. He seems to still hold much strength, but whether he still has the spirit to wield the blade..."
Frog tried to interrupt them, but found he could not speak.
Then, the Masamune in the distance began to get closer, and the spirits further away. When the two met, Masa and Mune once more united with the sword. It continued to get closer, until it was just a metre away from Frog. Slowly, he stood, and walked closer to it... then, he reached out a hand to grab it, and as he did, it shattered, and he awoke from his dream.

He sat up and looked beside him, where the Masamune lay. Again, a strange shadow flickered along the steel. However, as he watched, it faded, and the blade was normal once more.
"These art dark times indeed..." Frog muttered, before turning and lying back down.
"These art dark times indeed." Frog muttered, before

Magus

The next morning, after a breakfast of forest fowl and some fruit and berries, Frog and Magus made their way to where the Truce docks had once stood. What was left of them was now being used to prepare an invasion fleet. Apparently, Porre would not be satisfied until they had conquered the entire world. As the pair made their way forward, Magus saw that the number of guards had been doubled from his previous visit.

"They must have found the soldiers we killed yesterday." He said softly to Frog. "They're probably expecting us." "If we attempt to fight our way past them, the racket will surely draw the attention of even more guards." Turning to Frog he asked, "Any suggestions?"

OOC: Just thought I'd let you guys know; I had my user name changed from Celeb Lover to Sephiroth. It seemed more appropriate for role playing. What do you think of it? (I realize it's not exactly an original name, but every other name I liked was already taken)

"Do you think you can help us Melchior?" asked Lucca. she and chrono were sitting in melchior's hut, a few miles away from medina village.

"I'm sorry, but no" he said. "The wings of time were created by Belthasar, the guru of time, and he kept much of his work secret."

"But don't you still have some dreamstone left over after repairing the masamune? I'm sure we could maybe come up with an alternative power sorce." said Lucca.

"No. Dreamstone was the material for technology and power those many years ago. Because of this, Belthasar made his wings of time of something unique, so it could never be corrupted by Zeal. Perhaps with the sunstone..."

"Oh, that's right!" said Lucca. "The sunstone is the most unique of materials ever. It would have more than enough energy to power the Epoch. But first we need to get it."

Chrono looked at her questionably. "Yes, I know. my house was destroyed when Porre invaded. but the sunstone can easilly withstand whatever punishment it's been getting. aside from that, I had it safely in a monitoring tank. All we have to do is dig up the island untill we can find it!."

Marle entered Medina city limping and injured. The battle had been tough but she had managed it. Now she drew stares from people at she walked through town a blood mess. Pulling her cloak tighter around her she headed to the nearest tavern.

Frog looked about, trying to work out what to do.
" 'Tis a dangerous situation indeed." Frog said to Magus, trying to count the guards. There were at least 50; far too many to take on, even with Magus' magic and the Masamune together.
"Perhaps we could disguise ourselves?" He thought hopefully, looking up at Magus.
