Medivh Aran

You will only bring death

Even in the solace of his dream Medivh could not escape the whispers of his jailor. The lord of the Burning Legion taunted him incessantly taking every inch of his humanity and freedom. The unspeakable evil's he had committed shamed his very being to the core, like a prisoner trapped in a glass cage he could only observe helplessly as Sargaras wrought his will upon the world of Azeroth.

As if to torture him further Sargaras returned most of Medivh's control after opening the portal, he disallowed him to end his own life and restricted his ability to only travel within the immediate vicinity of the tower. It was a fate worse than death, to live with ones actions for all eternity.

His mother confronted him and though she was a talented sorceress, she was no match for the combined powers of the Guardian and Sargaras. The blue dragon Aranagos also challenged his power but once again he failed leaving Medivh weakened and still without hope. When the mages of Dalaran sent him a young apprentice to train with him he was hesitant at first but Sargaras knew that any suspicion from the Tirisfal would lead to other less fortunate consequences.

Ironically his first contact with the war was a small scouting party of orcs surveying the area. They foolhardily attacked him thinking him to be a simple hermit, what they received was the full might of the Guardian. Even without the powers of the Tirisfal he would have been more than a match for the rag tag bunch of orc warriors but perhaps for him, it was his only way to fight back against the evil that possessed him. When his bloodlust had ended Medivh gazed upon the horrors he had committed with his own hand; orcish blood pooled on the cold hard floor of his tower, what remained of the scouting party lay scattered on the walls and furniture around him. An overwhelming sense of despair washed over him, the evil that controlled his actions for so long had transformed him into the very beast he was fighting against.

At that moment he fell to his knees and silently wept, the demon's laughter echoed in his mind not even allowing him this one moment of peace. Suddenly he sensed anothers presence, she very nearly caught him by surprise and as he turned to face her a blade was a mere inch from his neck. Only the magic of his defensive barrier protected him, in a vain attempt he tried to lower the field hoping that the blade would strike home but Sargaras would not allow it. Medivh looked deep into his wouldbe assassins eyes and only saw blind desperation. No doubt she had already witnessed what he was capable of and was awaiting her turn.

Kill her The demon commanded. Medivh hesitated. He could feel the demon's influence retaking control of his body.

Wait

She could be of use Medivh needed to assert some power while he still had some control of his body, perhaps if he saved this one soul it would be a small token toward his own redemption. He weaved a subtle spell at the back of his mind to aid his inner voice.

How so?

I sense power within her. A power we can influence He poured more energy in his spell. Medivh had lived with the demon long enough to know when it was contemplating an idea and for once Medivh was winning. It helped that he wasn't lying either, this female did have a drop of power dormant within her. Not so much that one would blink an eye at but it was enough to draw interest.

We shall see my Maggot . Maggot, a name he'd been given by his demon puppet master, reminding him of who truly held the power. In this case however the demon allowed him to remain in control.

"I am allowing you to live, little gazelle. Return to your master and tell him I am interested in opening a line for diplomatic communication. If he agrees to it, he must send you back to relay his response. You and you alone." He commanded. To reinforce his desires Medivh summoned a spell of compulsion, not to control her actions directly but to push her in the right direction.

In truth Medivh didn't actually expect the girl to return, he already knew of the savagery orcs were accustom to thanks to his demonic passenger and was notably surprised to see her again. Sargaras it seemed was also intrigued by her return, he didn't express any thoughts or concerns on the matter and seemed to be satisfied with simply observing.

She returned with all manner of questions, Medivh brushed her off politely. He did give her his name and she gave him hers. He sent her back with only enough to keep her master interested especially since he himself was becoming more intrigued by her. For one thing, he knew she had a dual heritage, oddly enough she wasn't aware of her other half.

As time drew on Medivh found himself more and more attracted to the young half orc. Though she was a more than capable warrior the intelligence in her eyes suggested so much more. His apprentice Khadgar despised her presence but Medivh assured him that in her current position she posed no threat to either of them.

Unfortunately as Medivh became closer to Garona so did Sargaras, he toyed with his emotions tormenting him over and over. While he still had control Medivh wanted to make sure that Sargaras couldn't influence him any further, a challenge he'd long since given up on. When Garona announced that she would be staying in the tower for a prolonged period he knew that he couldn't stay with her. The time spent apart was the reprieve he needed to maintain his focus, Sargaras used her presence to weaken his resolve and the longer she stayed the harder it was to resist.

Needing time away from her, he explained to Khadgar that he was going to leave on official business and to not tell Garona anything, he hoped that the girl would give up on him and return home. Medivh traveled to the border of where Sargaras allowed him, even knowing that the demon would eventually retake his mind he pressed on. Sargaras allowed him to continue; either he was losing his power over him or perhaps something more sinister was happening. It mattered not, he needed to press on.

For one week he traveled, it was the furtherest away from the tower he'd ever been, the whispers of Sargaras dulled and for the first time his mind was at peace. It seemed to him that the demon lord had made a terrible mistake in giving him so much control for so long. His own conscious had over powered him and Medivh had won. So great was his joy that he returned to the tower immediately, Khadgar greeted him warmly and asked of his mission but Medivh was far more interested in Garona, she had stayed despite his prolonged absence, that in itself was worth the effort. He gave Garona a sharp look and Khadgar escorted her to the tower.

He didn't want his apprentice to suspect anything so he gave him a false story about destroying a horde stronghold that housed the most fearsome warlocks.

"Magna, you must allow me to assist you on your next mission. I believe I am ready." Khagar pleaded.

"That you are my young apprentice but there are some challenges in the world that even a mage of your talents cannot comprehend. Now, I am going to speak to Garona and I am not to be disturbed, is that understood?" Medivh ordered. Khadgar looked annoyed.

"Of course. Great is your wisdom, please forgive me for my overzealous request." Khadgar apologised. He didn't seem entirely sincere.

"One day you will be a great and powerful mage Khadgar, of that I am sure. For now you must learn patience and humility." Medivh reponded and without waiting further he paced his way up to the top level of the tower to see Garona.

He wasn't surprised to find her in a sullen mood, after all he left her without reason. He admired the way her soft wavy hair framed her light green skin, it seemed such a stark contrast and yet it suited her in ways she hardly knew. Often she told him of how hideous her appearance was, Medivh usually responded with a quiet chuckle, not ready to reveal his true feelings. Perhaps without Sargaras at his back he could finally lift the perpetual burden.

"I trust your stay with Khadgar wasn't too unpleasent. I apologise for my absence but I have other duties aside from entertaining a lovely flower such as yourself." He commented with a slight bow of his head.

Garona Halforcen

Garona whipped around when she heard Medivh's voice. She was just in time to see him nod politely at her. The notion made her snort indignantly.

"Lovely flower?" Garona laughed bitterly, glaring at the mage for all she was worth. He was always doing that to her, calling her pretty names and hoping it would settle her. After all she had told him about her past it amazed her that he still tried. She knew that she wasn't beautiful, she had always known that. It was only his normal kindness to her that saved him from harsh reprimand every time he called her names like that. That, and the fact that his magical abilities were beyond compare. "You left without warning Aran. Two weeks you were gone. And you left me here with Khadgar."

Even though Garona had come to respect Khadgar, he still irritated her. Something about being sent from the human court, and his pretentious civility, irked her the wrong way. Apart from his flowery language, Medivh did not hold many of the graces of civilised humans. He was polite, yes, but he was also honest and genuine. His usual pack of pretence is what made her return to him time and time again, even though Gul'dan had offered to send someone else. Someone less visually repulsive. It had taken Garona a fair bit of time to convince Gul'dan to allow her to return to Karazhan. Her success had hinged on the fact that , even though one of Gul'dan's human spies would surely appealed to Medivh more, being half-or and half-human gave Garona the advantage of reminding Medivh of exactly who he was dealing with.

Last time she returned to her master he had reminded her of her true purpose at Karazhan. As much as she wanted to believe that she was a diplomat she knew better, and Gul'dan had ensured it. At heart Garona was nothing more than an assassin. She had been shown throughout her life that she was lucky to have Gul'dan's mercy. If she did not follow his orders she would be disposed of. As simple as that.

In Medivh's absence Garona had time to think. Time she didn't want nor need. When he was around his company was often enough to distract her mind from its self-depreciating musings. He would show her some of the experiments he was working on, he would teach her about human history, and he gave her more positive attention in one day than she had received from anyone else in a life time. When he had left, he had left her without meaning or purpose. She had spent all of years living by the request of others. Everything she knew about herself was what she was told by others. Ugly, useless, base, hopeless.

Medivh's attention had led her to believe that, perhaps, she was more than that. That, maybe, she should be the one to define who she was.

"I know that Khadgar isnt as tough and well endowed as the brutish company you normally keep back home but he does have other talents." Medivh teased. He was never entirely sure whether it was he or the demon that enjoyed the way she squirmed when certain topics surfaced. Now that Sargaras had left though he realised that he certainly appreciated the way her skin coloured slightly at his subtle jest.

Garona Halforcen

"Perhaps brutish is best." Garona snapped, crossing her arms over her chest. "That doesn't explain why you left without telling either one of us that you were going, or where you were going.

Medivh Aran

"Do not fear little jade petal my recent activities will not affect your master in anyway, there will be nothing to report on that front." He explained politely. Medivh smiled warmly at her, he knew that she took her role as emissary very seriously, everything he said or did was scrutinised deeply, his motives always questioned.

It saddened him that her loyalty and skills had been abused for so long, Medivh saw a great potential for Garona, one that he wanted to explore.

"Now if there are no more questions. I would like to teach you something if you would allow it." He offered.

Garona Halforcen

Garona growled lightly at Medivh's sugary sweet platitudes. As wise as he was, Medivh certainly had warped survival skills when it came to her. It was clear that he was angry and, despite this, he continued to goad her whilst avoiding her questions. The worst thing was that he, in his infinite wisdom, also missed that her concern was not on behalf of her master, but originating from herself.

"What is it that you would teach me, oh wise and all knowing Medivh?"Garona said mockingly with a flourished bow.

Medivh Aran

Her false civility amused him even more. In truth she was a very good student, everything he had taught her thus far had opened many doors in her own understanding of the world around her. She particularly enjoyed history, oddly enough it wasn't even her own. Medivh tutored her on human, elven and dwarven history; no doubt she reported her knowledge to Gul'dan but he could see the twinkle in her eye whenever he reenacted a famous battle or combat strategy.

"I'd like to continue where we last left off, please take a seat. Now where was I up to?" Medivh gestured to the seat she usually sat at when he discussed such things.

Garona Halforcen

Garona looked at Medivh, then at the chair he had gestured to, and then back at the mage before crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him; making a point of not sitting down.

"You had just finished telling me how the mages inadvertently summoned demons after they created Dalaran." She supplied gruffly. She wanted to remain angry with him, but her hunger for learning and desire to have a decent conversation were too strong.

Medivh ignored her rudeness having gotten quite used to it by now. He sat down in the opposite chair, smoothed down his robes and placed his staff against the nearby table.

"Ah yes this is my favourite part. After the human mages foolishly abused the arcane powers taught to them they alerted demons sensitive to magic. At first they tried to cover it up but when a large fiery demon appears fight in the middle of the town square its a little hard to ignore.

Though overzealous the Dalaran mages weren't stupid. They requested aid from their allies; the elves that originally taught them the art. Rightly annoyed by the human mages careless use of magic they nearly declined their request. It was only past experience that reminded them about the responsibility they held for teaching it in the first place considering the fact that some of them were responsible for the first assault on Azeroth by the Burning Legion.

After dispensing the demons in Dalaran the human and elven mages formed the Council of Tirisfal. A secretive organisation whose goal was to protect Azeroth from any demonic threat. They empowered one of their own with the combined strength of the whole council, in effect they created the Guardian of Tirisfal. This individual was responsible for the protection of Azeroth from all demonic threats, the catch was their identity was always kept a secret."

Medivh observed Garona's reactions carefully. He had never revealed his true identity to her and wondered if she suspected he was more than just an average human mage.

Garona Halforcen

As Garona listened intently to Medivh's story her shoulders relaxed a little and she let her arms fall to her side. She wasn't quite ready to sit down yet, but she did take a few steps closer to him as he spoke. As soon as he mentioned the Guardian, though, her anger was almost forgotten; replaced instead by surprised incredulity.

"They gave all of that power to one person?" Garona asked, eyes wide. "That's ridiculous? Are they as mad as they are stupid? What if that one person decided to use that power to do bad things? What if they wanted to keep it? How do they decide who gets this power?" Garona asked, rattling of some of the many questions racing through her mind. "And why must it be kept secret? It is bad enough that they are putting so much focus onto one person, but to give them the power of anonymity? The ability to shroud themselves of accountability to the general folk?"

Medivh Aran

Medivh raised his brows at her questions, unlike Khadgar she questioned everything he taught her which made her a much more interesting pupil. Though their lessons were longer in duration the content within was far more stimulating. It was true that both she and Khadgar had come from different background which meant that he accepted more about history than she did but Medivh valued Garona's ability to think critically.

"All very good questions perhaps you should have been on the council. I have one for you however. What if the Guardian abused his power? What if they were found out? What would it take to defeat such an individual and what would be the cost?" Medivh's tone became far more serious.

Garona Halforcen

"Sorry Medivh but that question is ridiculous as the whole situation is ridiculous. Personally I would have to question the ability of anyone, no matter now strong, to take that much power and not abuse it. I don't even know how someone that strong could be fought, but there has to be a weakness. Would their magical strength protect them physically? Could it be as simple as an unsuspecting dagger in the dark? Poison in wine? Or would it need to be an all out battle?"

Garona settled into her normal chair and looked up at Medivh with her eyebrows furrowed and she shook her head.

"I fear that I'll never truly understand humans." Garona admitted. "Orcs may have dictators, but at least they are granted no more than the power they are able to handle. Giving one person the power of many and expecting them to remain uncorrupted? It sounds impossible to me."

Medivh Aran

Medivh stood up and gradually approached her. He summoned a rush of wind from outside and into the tower twisting it under his robes causing them to lift slightly. He stopped directly in front of Garona and leaned in close, his lips only a hairs breath from her ear.

"Death comes to us all, even to those with great power. Sometimes the question is not how but when." Medivh stood up straight but not before breathing in her scent. She smelt of leathers and dirt, a primal mix that stirred his loins slightly.

Normally during their lesson Sargaras would torment him with lustful images of Garona in less than appropriate positions. The demon relished in making him uncomfortable with his own dark desires, so much so that Medivh was unsure whether it was he or the Demon that wished to defile her.

Ever since Medivh discovered the truth about the evil presence within his mind he cursed the fates of destiny for delivering him such a poor hand, yet without all the sequence of events leading up to this point he would have never been here in this moment enjoying the more simple pleasures of mortality.

"I think that is enough for history, how about a lesson in magic?" Medivh offered. In the past few weeks Garona had become more and more adept in the art, especially shadow magic. When they trained alongside Khadgar he never showed his knowledge in the dark arts but when alone, Medivh found Garona to be quite the pupil.

Garona Halforcen

Garona had been exposed to much of Medihv's magic, but it always seemed to impress her when he used it in small ways to create subtle yet devastating effects. As he walked towards her, with a breeze ruffling his robes she couldn't help but give him her attention. When he leant over and his lips were but the barest distance away from her ear she held her breath.

Then as soon as it had started it was over again. As though that intimate moment never happened Medivh stepped back and spoke in a jovial tone, suggesting a change in the direction of their lesson.

"That sounds acceptable." Garona said with a stiff nod, trying to shake the strange emotions that were distracting her more practical senses. Garona relished the history lessons that Medivh offered her, but the magic lessons were something else entirely. History taught her about the nature of being and life, but magic taught her about connecting to herself. Making herself part of the world around as well as standing out from it. She got a rush from magic that she'd never felt outside of her assassinations, and it was beautiful in that it often required no violence.

Garona got to her feet and stood opposite Medivh, curious about the wonders he wanted to teach her.

Medivh Aran

Medivh started their lessons like usual, only asking her to summon small amounts of energy into the room. Though she could summon sparks of frost and fire very easily, whenever she began using shadow magic the results were very different. In some cases the magic she summoned exploded in her face requiring Medivh to counter the serious effects and other times she seemed perfectly in control.

At this current time he was asking her to create a defensive barrier around herself. After a few attempts she managed to conjure a clumsy bubble around her body. Medivh tested the barrier with a few short bursts of magic, each bolt disintegrated the shield required her to recreate it each time.

"You are concentrating too hard, you have to make the magic apart of yourself and not some foreign entity." He suggested. She summoned another barrier which he effortlessly dissipated.

The day was getting late and he could see she was becoming frustrated. He knew that she had the ability deep down but also knew that something was holding her back. Medivh made his way over to her and took one her her hands in his, he summoned a small amount of magic and allowed it to simmer of his body. He guided her hand to the v-line of his robes and placed her palm on the exposed area of skin. Closing his eyes he spoke softly to her.

"You can feel the magic here, it is a part of my very being. Like an arm or leg I don't simply command magic, I allow it to natural work as intended." He began. Without opening his eyes he then guided Garona's hand to her own chest, the edges of his hand rested comfortably against the warm flesh of her breast a fact he was well aware of.

"The magic is here, but like so many other things you fight it as if it were an animal to be beaten into submission. Your magic is a companion, an old friend or lover that is as much a part of you as the beat of your heart." Medivh opened his eyes and saw her looking back up at him. In that brief moment he felt something he'd not felt in a long time. He quickly released her and stood back to his original position.

"It is getting late and I believe the both of us are in need of sustenance. We shall continue again tommorow, let us fetch a meal with Khadgar. I am almost certain he is wondering why we have been up here for so long."

Garona Halforcen

It was beyond frustrating. Try as she might, Garona could never summon a barrier of protection effective enough to protect herself from more than one of Medivh's smaller attacks. When Medivh worked magic it looked like it was as simple for him as breathing, every movement flowed as naturally as water in a stream. He was fluid, unstoppable and perfect in his skill.

When Medivh gave her his advice she gritted her teeth angrily. She could see that was how he worked it, but for her it seemed impossible. Her culture and upbringing had been all about control and power. If you did not cotrol something, that meant that it could control you. Garona could feel how much power Medivh had by the way her skin tingled whenever he was around. She wanted that, she did, but the idea of giving herself to some unseen force scared her beyond reason. All of her life had been lived subject to the control of others, and Garona wanted to be the one in control for once. Now that she was learning magic her goal was no different, but it was clear that her desire was the cause of her failure.

Medivh seemed to sense her growing agitation when he called for a pause in their practice and made his way over to her. He took her hand gingerly and brought it up to press against the skin of his chest just above the neckline of his robe. He was hot and smooth beneath her palm, and Garona wondered whether it truly was the magic that was sending bolts of electricity running from her hands into her arms.

Garona's own chest felt cold and clammy by comparison. It lacked the vibrancy and life that Medivh seemed to radiate effortlessly. Their eyes met and something flickered in his eyes before he stepped back and called an end to their session.

"I agree. You must be hungry." Garona said, stepping past Medivh and making her way to the door. "Hopefully Khadgar thought to make a start on dinner." She added, though she knew he probably had. One thing that she could always rely on Khadgar for was his impeccable sense of organisation. There wasn't a single aspect of his (or hers and Medivh's) life that he left unplanned. He had probably not only sorted out dinner, but all meals for the next three weeks.

~*~

It turned out that Garona was right. Khadgar had prepared a meal that far exceeded any other that he had made to date. With a muttered thanks she plonked herself down on a seat and began to eat the food. After all of the magic training she was tired and drained, and the food was do wonders for her exhausted body and emotions.

After dinner Garona made the familiar climb to the top chamber of the tower. It was something that stopped her longing to leave the tower. When she sat beneath the open window in the roof she looked up and the heavens displayed themselves for her.

She'd always loved the stars. Their beauty and mystery always reminded her of how small and insignificant she was. The stories and images that the stars held were there long before she existed, and would continue to exist long after she expired. Seeing their infinite radiance calmed her, it pulled her away from the torment of her memories and the cage of her reality. With a deep sigh Garona relaxed into the chaise lounge and allowed her body to relax along with her mind.

Medivh Aran

Medivh stayed at the dinner table after their meal to converse with Khadar, during dinner the younger mage seemed quite melancholy and Medivh suspected it had to do with the time he spent with Garona. Time and time again his apprentice warned him of the dangers in socialising with the enemy, Medivh as always ensured him that everything that he and Garona discussed was not critical to the war effort.

"I still don't know why you bother with her. She is dangerous Magus, I don't trust her." He huffed out.

"Calm yourself Khagar she is but one unarmed half orc. We are two well trained mages, there is nothing to fear." Medivh replied.

"She wasn't unarmed when she first arrived, you told me she held a knife to your throat."

"Yes but she was under orders and besides, she has done nothing of the like since she has been the emissary."

"Not while we're awake."

"Enough Khadgar!" Medivh's voice rose for the first time that night. Khadgar paused a moment, it wasn't often that the elder mage reprimanded him. "I don't want to hear anymore talk about our Garona's integrity. She is our guest and we will treat her as such." Khadgar grumbled in response.

"Now let us talk about something else. You were telling me about a new spell you were perfecting at dinner, I'd like to hear more."

The young mage's eyes lit up at the mention of his studies, Khadgar was always enthusiastic about discussing magic with Medivh and did so for the next half hour. Medivh excused himself shortly after telling him that it was time to retire to bed, of course that was only a half truth.

Medivh climbed the ladder toward the top of the tower, ever since Garona had become more comfortable staying with them she often observed the night sky before turning in for the night. On some occasions Medivh joined her, it took a great deal to ignore the whispers of the dark evil within him but he endured it to have the time to get to know her better. Tonight he would be able to appreciate more of what made Garona the unique individual she was.

"A scholar once told me that the stars in the sky were the most beautiful thing in all of Azeroth. Normally I'd agree, that is until I met you." Medivh commented.

Footsteps on the spiral stone staircase broke Garona's musing and she turned just in time to see Medivh open the door. Garona couldn't help but snort in derision at his ridiculous comment.

"If you're going to patronise me I think I'll go to bed." Garona said, glaring at Medivh but not moving from her seat.

Medivh Aran

"No please stay, pay no attention to me. I'm just an old fool speaking out of turn." She seemed quite unhappy tonight, though he couldn't be sure if it was because of their earlier lessons or something else entirely.

Medivh didn't want to intrude on her personal space so instead of seating himself directly next to her he pressed his back against the stone wall and gradually slid himself down using his staff to brace him. Even though the powers of the Guardian and possibly Sargaras made his body as strong as any human in their prime he found that posing as an old man to be more comfortable at time.

"I don't mean to pry and of course your welcome to ignore me still but I want to know more about your home." Though his question was directed at her he kept his gaze toward the stars.

Garona Halforcen

"What do you want to know?" Garona asked, annoyed by his casual dismissal of his discomfort. Speaking of her home was not something she was fond of. Here, in Medivh's tower, she could almost forget the horrors of her mother land. Even though she hated being locked up in the stone cage of the tower, it was preferable to returning to the Orcs and being forced to remember how low and useless she really was. When he wasn't antagonising her and mocking her appearance, Medivh truly made Garona feel like she was more than just a tool to be used and abused. He wanted to teach her things, he shared his wisdom and his knowledge as freely as his hospitality.

Medivh Aran

The fact that she hadn't dismissed his question was enough to tell him that her mood had softened enough for a decent conversation. In some ways Sargaras could understand the benefit of teaching her everything he had, likely he envisioned a nefarious plot where Garona would assassinate an enemy of his.

His evenings on the roof with her were entirely beyond the demon, it wasn't that he couldn't read his mind, it was more likely the fact he couldn't understand what Medivh was thinking and why he genuinely wanted to know about her. This was probably the only miniscule point that Medivh could cherish, the human need for social contact without personal gain.

"Tell me about something beautiful, something you found beautiful." He was careful to emphasis the point that he wanted it from her point of view and not what others had told her.

"The stars." Garona said without hesitation. They were one of the few beautiful things she remembered of her homeland. Her love for night sky wasn't because of her homeland, it was in spite of it. No matter where she travelled to, the stars were a constant presence. They may not always be the same, but they still lit up the night with their timeless beauty.

Medivh Aran

Medivh smiled warmly at her response, he to found the solace of the stars to be most comforting. Before Sargaras manifested himself more strongly Medivh used to observe the stars at night with his friends. They would often imagine stories played out in the night sky, stories of heroes, beasts and grand battles. If only he knew then that he would be the counterpoint to everything he dreamed of.

"When I look at the night sky I imagine that all spirits of the past long gone are looking down upon us, keeping us safe from harm. What do you see?"

Garona Halforcen

"I'm not sure." Garona said slowly. "I've heard that they are the ancestors, but if that were true there would surely be more of them. I've also heard that they are the hearth fires of distant lands that we can never reach. There are so many other explanations, but I don't care for them really. The stars are the stars. I don't want to diminish their beauty by trying to attribute some greater cause to them." Garona continued with a sigh. "All I know is that when I look up at them I feel small. They remind me that there is so much more to this world than I can ever know. When I look at them I can forget about me, I can forget about my blasted homeland and I can breathe."

Garona stopped speaking and gazed at the stars for a little longer before looking over at Medivh.

"What is something you find beautiful about your homeland?" She asked. She had already shared more than she should have with him, and she wanted to know more about the enigma that was Medivh Aran.

Medivh Aran

Since she still seemed to be in a talkative mood Medivh wanted to see how much more he could learn and at a much closer proximity. The seat that she was using was comfortable for one but if another sat down they would be thigh to thigh. Medivh stood up and edged his way around until he was facing her.

"The ocean, as a boy I often visited the docks in the early hours of the morning to catch the rays of light shimmering across the vast open water. The saliors often told me that the ocean was a beautiful yet unfogiving mistress; wondrous to observe on the surface but treacherous dangers lurking below." Medivh eyed the small space next to her.

"Do you mind if i sit?"
