Christmas Parties

I wouldn't know, as I've never attended one as a married man. The 2 that I DID attend (not counting my parents', which they dragged me to as a kid and teen) were at a medical billing company at which I worked in Arizona. There were plenty of cute women, but most of them were married themselves. The ones that weren't had boyfriends, aside from one that I really liked (and possibly loved), who came with friends. As I didn't tell her how I felt about her yet, nothing really happened (aside from my boss pressuring me to drink, despite the fact that I was still a teetotaler at the time).

However, that was the night BEFORE I told her how I felt about her, which turned out not so well. The following year, nothing really cool happened. The next time I showed up for work, however, I found out that someone had put mistletoe above my workstation (why the hell did they do that). I got accused of putting it there myself (like I would need such an excuse if I really wanted to kiss someone).

As you can see, Christmas (or Holiday) parties have been rather boring and uneventful affairs for me. Ironically, the owner of the company was Jewish, but she understood (being a smart lady) that most of her employees celebrated Christmas.
I just wish that some of her staff had been as respectful of her beliefs.

At this time of year I play quite a few office parties with a function band.
What is a 'function band'?

Seriously, Perdita

p.s. O'course I hope it goes well but I just can't picture you at a Swiss ski resort.

I hate office parties, heartily glad for the last few years, we simply all went out for lunch. Much more civilised.

But this year.......now that I'm thankfully unemployed, I won't even have to endure that.

The gosling and I will have our own party, here at home.......;)

The first year I was a manager, since I was the new one, I had to run the store while everyone else went off and had their fun little party.
The next year, I quit right before the party.
That same year at the beauty shop, the owner was having finacial difficulties, and our paychecks were bouncing.. a party was out of the question.
This year though, the managers Christmas party is the 20th, and I get to go!
It's going to be much more casual, and they're having it at a bar/grill, instead of the country club like usual.

It'll be a delightful evening. I'm sure I can learn to enjoy the franchise owner's lecherous glances. Perhaps maybe, just maybe, he'll slip some extra money into my bonus, LOL. :D

I don't know how horrible of an experience this will be, but if all else fails, I'll drink. :D

A function band is a band who are hired for private functions -- mostly weddings and corporate parties in my case. There are aroud fifty people on the roster. We have some great soundalikes and lookalikes too.

Pity the boss

When I was 19 (a very long time ago) I was in charge of an office of 25 young women civilians employed in a Defence establishment which had 15,000 men.

I spent almost the whole office party acting as a bouncer to keep out the uninvited guests. The lucky few, partners and boyfriends, had computer printed invitations that were almost impossible to forge at that time.

I was kissed by 25 women when I really wanted to be kissed by one.
