Did you here about the guy who's Pastor ask why he only comes once a year? The guy said well I come once a year and every time I come your always preaching about christmas.

Anyways going sideways. Whats your favorite Choir based christmas hymn.

Mine has got to be Gloria in excelsis deo{sp} aka Angels we have heard on high.

Besides Silent Night........(which until I was 9, I thought it was sleep in heavenly peas......>

Id have to say "A great and mighty wonder"

I love Adeste Fideles (O Come All Ye Faithful) especially sung by the Three Tenors. I may adore head banging rock and roll, but my most favorite music is opera...shhhh, don't tell Thumper!

My favorite song is Silent Night but when it comes to a choir song I also have to go with Adeste Fideles. I have enjoyed that song since I was young. I even learned how to sing it in Latin.

a little shameless flirting

in Latin even? I'm impressed ;) Not a lot of guys would admit that. Now, if you like opera too....

I love "Angels We Have Heard on High", it is one of the most beautiful hymns ever written.

The closer it gets to Christmas the more I wish it was over already.

It's not a hymn but The Ukrainian Bell Carol ranks up there along with 'So this is Christmas..'

Ding - dong.

I attend the Church of What's Happening Now and our favorite Christmas hymn is "Blue Christmas" by Elvis...

Opera? I'm with you, Countess...

And on that note *wink*, mine is "Gesu Bambino"--love to sing it, love to hear it sung, especially by Pavarotti...

Adeste Fidelis (in latin) hands down my favorite.

Of course the Church of the BobToad Choral Society and Home Brew Club has that all time classic "Elvis is playin' Santa at Sears" which is near and dear to my heart as well.

ME TOO!

thank you bobtoad, i had forgotten the name of that song...it is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG. in eighth grade i had to sing part of it as a solo. Thank you soooooo much for that name...you don't realize how long it took for me to find the real name of that song....
well newho...talk to you later...

A couple come to mind

Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Oh Come All Ye Faithful

And one that I think is actually fairly new called "Christmastime" our students are singing it at our Christmas program this year and the recording of it sounds incredible.

Fave secular song would have to be Blue Christmas by The King.

Heck...dang near any christmas song if it is sung SATB. I did a lot of singing in high school and college. But, I guess my top choices are:

Silent Night (a version composed by Rhonda Polay)
Little Drummer Boy
Adeste Fideles
Christmas section of Handel's Messiah

I also love The Christmas Song, I'll Be Home for Christmas, Winter Wonderland (always sang this one with my grandmother as she played the organ). I could go on and on...

Plus, everyone should check out A NARADA CHRISTMAS COLLECTION. Narada is a recording label with different composers taking traditional christmas carols and building on those themes
