Christianity.

This forum makes me feel like the biggest square. I'm against general Christian-bashing and bestiality. Sorry.

I'm against bestiality. I also know bett enough to know he's trying to get a rise. Probably outta me. *shrugs* I could join in, and bash atheists, but I'm bigger than that. :p

I was raised Roman Catholic, and spent most of my life dedicated to the church.

I find this funny because, when you strip the beliefs of the church down to it, really, this is basically it.

There's something to be said for being able to poke fun at yourself... and at your beliefs.

Man. Don't get me started on that one. Nothing ticks me off more than pictures of Jesus with blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. I mean, for Gods sake, he was a Jew and he lived in a hot climate. I seriously doubt he was blonde, blue eyed and fair skinned! GET A GRIP PEOPLE!

Reminds me of a joke, though.

A black man and a white man are standing at the gates to heaven, good naturedly arguing about whether Jesus is black or white. The gates to heaven open up and Jesus steps through and says . . .

"Hola, Senor."

Their's that, too. Frankly I'm secure enough in what I believe that I don't care if people laugh about it.

I love atheists! Although I rarely meet any hardcore atheists. Many celebrate Christmas, that wonderful "American" holiday, because it makes them feel good and they like the ritual. But religion is horrible. Nothing good, like I don't know, ritual and community, comes from religion. Nope. Not a thing.

Don't worry, ITW, I am in your boat too.

Bad form, mister.

Well, I did hug Mister Man's doggies very tightly, but they totally consented. I think.

Mwah ha. Good one.

Chris Hedges has an interesting new book out. It places Dawkins Atheism and radical fundamentalism at the same dangerous point of a continuum, most people in their varying levels of belief and agnosticism on the other end. I just saw it in B+N and came close to getting it.

I still would never tell my friend, who survived Mormon upbringing and is gay, that his "Jesus, the other white meat" T shirt is bad form.

My husband is an atheist.

But he won't walk under a ladder and freaks over breaking a mirror.

Having spent as much time on Kierkegaard and Augustine and the NT as I have, I have to say the synopsis doesn't totally suck, frankly. It's on the level of those "shit happens" thingies...

I actually just don't think it's funny. It seems incredibly ignorant and obnoxious. I've seen similar things written about kosher laws and Judaism. Well, my entire culture and religion can't be reduced to 'don't eat shellfish.'

For all the praise of the virtue of open-mindedness around these parts, I'm amazed by how insulting people can be on a regular basis. Not you, Jade, or even Betticus. Just speaking more broadly. It's wrong to criticize dog-lovers, wink wink, and yet, Christians are clearly idiots. Because there could never be a bigger reason for being Christian, than the literal text of the Bible. They must all just be delusional.
