Funny how FOX News spun the story that it was nosey of a citizen, tax payer to ask the governor a relevant question.

Gotta wonder how FOX would have reacted had Obama told a constituent that his decision to send his kids to private school was none of their business.

Well, it's not as if we would need to wait to find out. The Obama children have been attending the exclusive, private Sidwell Friends school since arriving in Washington. I've never heard FOX or any other media outlet accuse the Obama's of hypocrisy for that parental decision.

Maybe, unlike the citizen in New Jersey, they realized it really was none of their business.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's approval ratings have dropped to a new low, driven by negative views from women.

A new poll by Quinnipiac University shows 47% of New Jersey voters do not approve of the job being done by Christie, whose handling of the state's budget problems and dealings with public unions have caused Republicans to urge him to run for president. That's one percentage point higher than April, the governor's previous low.

On the flip side, 44% say they approve of the way Christie has done his job. A former federal prosecutor, Christie was elected in 2009.

Colonel, this thread is about his rude behavior, not where he sends his children to school.

Oh. I thought it was about the hypothetical reaction of FOX news given two similar political events.

Well, if it is not about where he sends his kids to school, it sounds like you and I (and Gov. Christie) are in agreement that the caller asked a question that was none of her business.

If that is the case, then all that's left is his "tone" or rudeness, as you call it.

How much offense is a public official allowed to display when someone inappropriately crosses his personal boundary? I don't know that there is an objective answer to that.

I do know that despite his tone, he went on to give a reasonable answer regarding his perceived value of a religious education.

But the woman is truly nuts if she thinks any Governor reducing funds for public education is a hypocrite simply because his children attend private schools. Governors have budgetary responsibilities for public education regardless of whether they have children and, if they do, regardless of what schools their children may attend.

Every time he speaks he sounds as if he’s auditioning for a role in the Raging Bull.

I suspect this is also a partial explanation for what you saw in the video. Christie knows his role and the appeal of being the one politician who isn't afraid to spit in your eye and call a spade a spade.

Forget the audition. He's already got the part. If you don't care for the way he's playing it, that's certainly your prerogative. I would not question that.

But that critique is far removed from what FOX news would or would not do if Obama or anyone else attempted to play the part of a similar firebrand.

was rude to ask the question in the first place

and

a dumb question and point as well

Why does he tell her it's none of her business and then answer her question anyway?

Colonel, he could send his kids to school on the moon for all I care.
I won’t argue with you whether or not it was a legitimate question from a tax payer to the governor of the state; I think it’s debatable.

One of many problems I have with this governor is his consistently rude, bullying behavior. I don’t appreciate it and am embarrassed that he represents NJ.

One point I was trying to make is that had Obama reacted to a similar question in such a rude manner, I’m pretty sure there would have been a thread arguing evidence of his arrogant behavior.

In regard to my comment about FOX alleged News, I see little difference in the bias between that organization and CNN and MSNBC. Like you, I grew up with Morrow, Cronkite, Huntley, Brinkley, Lehrer and the rest. What passes now for news organizations is quite pathetic.

No President can say or do anything without someone "starting a thread" somewhere in opposition to it. In fact, if Christie is ever elected President, it will be very interesting to see how his "tough guy" persona wears with the public over a four-year term.

As for your critique of modern day journalism -- no argument here.

is he able to get them in line (and by them I mean government workers and other political leaders)?

NJ's property taxes are outrageous. I guess when you move from NY, NJ isn't that bad but someone has to fix your freaking government

The first thing everyone realized when we started electing Presidents with school age children was the DC public school system is not prepared for a Secret Service security detail. It's an undue burden on a burdened system.

Amy Carter attended public schools and no Republican will bring up the subject.
