Frank Herbert's sequel to "Dune" is schedule for Sunday night on the Scifi channel.

Are you gonna watch it?

Do you think it'll be as "threaded' together as "Dune?"
I'm gonna miss the principal actors that were in the first.

:D

I watched the leadin "Women of Dune" and I think they are going to stick to the book - which means it will be as well "threaded". I am going to watch it tonight.

I'll be watching it
and at 4 PM eastern time
I am watching something Dune on SciFi now

I saw the original movie... I don't get the big deal about the whole thing...

But then again I am not a Sci-fi or fantasy fan...

enjoy the show guys!

yeah Dune is on right now...

The teleplay version not the cinematic one

I am planning on watching it tonight. I have not seen the original dune in so long I may have to go rent it.

Planning on watching it myself later tonight. Mostly enjoyed Sci Fi channels version of the original Dune, so I've got hopes for Children of Dune to be as good.

I just dont know if we will or not. The original Dune was so much better than the version that Sci-Fi put out. I might tape it and watch it one night when something isnt on. Besides.....choosing between Jennifer Garner and Sci-Fi is too much for me to handle.

david lynch's dune was naff he changed the story way to much so it was nothing to do with dune

sci fi channels version was much better but they had less money so sometimes it couldn't look as good as they wanted but its much more to do with the books and much more faithful to frank herberts ideals with dune

david lynch made up silly weapons that were never in dune to explain stuff he thought would be too difficult

i hope to see children of dune but not sure when its being shown in the uk :(

its been on lit before :)

i might actually be getting a tape sent me anyway

i  dune i've read all the books and the first two three times

plus all the new preludes ... im such a geek :)

Damn straight I'll be watching it. I have both Dune movies and can't wait for this one to come out. There are somethings that will be changed, like the fact that the kids are 9 years old in the book Children of Dune but as long as the story is told in a decent way is all I look for. I haven't gotten to the prequels yet on the books but I'm working on it.

I'll be watching it too.
Though I thought Dune was the best book and the rest were only ok.

The movie looks interesting though.

and it is GOOD !!!
I liked the Sci-Fi version while it is inside the palaces, etc. - much better sets, and the whole movie has less of a funky/quirky feel to it. Both the sets and feel of the movie may have been the vision of director/etc., but I prefer the Sci-Fi version in that regard.

Where the Sci-Fi version falls down is when they shoot the desert scenes, which were obviously shot on an interior set, whereas the movie was shot in the desert and had a much better feel to it. The Sci-Fi version really falls down in this regard.

As to which kept closer to the vision of Dune as written by Herbert, I can't tell because it has been so long since I read the books.

Anybody looking forward to Riverworld? I never read the book (books?) but the series looks like it might be good.

Ok I have never really read the Dune books so what is up with the glowing blue eyes that some of the people have?

It's a sign of addiction...

Specifically, addiction to the spice of Arrakis...

I'm not really sure it should be glowing blue, though... I recall a passage in the book where a heavily addicted Guildsman loses a covering contact lens, revealing an eye so deep blue it's almost black...

Looked like it was glowing blue for sure at least in the Dune Mini- series not so much in the Children of Dune series.

I'm pissed - the hotel I'm in this week doesn't have the Sci-Fi channel - actually the channel selection in most hotels sucks big time. Hopefully this will come out on DVD eventually.

Probably something added/changed to draw attention... viewers are more likely to notice glowing eyes than dark ones, I suppose.

I know you can't always follow books to the letter, but sometimes I get the irrits with changes made 'to grab attention' when it's possible to follow the canon

Roll your eyes all you want - the blue eyes were in the book.

I know - that's what I was saying...

In the example I gave earlier (a heavily addicted Guildsman present during the attack on the Emperor's camp at the end of 'Dune'), the effect was described as a blue so dark it was almost black... it didn't say a thing about glowing...
