Children in the Holiday Season

I agree

Watching my daughters faces on Christmas eve and Christmas Morning made everything so much more exciting.
Now I get to see the same looks in my grandchildren and I love it.

Kids are the greatest. It's wonderful to see my childhood joy revisted upon their little faces. :)

My son is what keeps the spirit alive in my house at Christmas time.
Facial expressions when he is opening up his gifts Christmas morning are truly priceless.

Myst, does it have to match? I have an number of bits and piece...
bowls with no lids, lides with no containers...
even a pickle keeper. I think that's what they call it.
They never told me it was like socks, you would lose parts, and gain others.

Children are the main reason for every holiday. The brightness of their smiles, the awe, the wonder. The biggest and best part of my Holidays.

But don't tell anyone I said that. Got to keep my mean rep.

I love Christmas! My 8 year old (youngest) is growing up too quick. :)
My 12 year old stepson told him that Santa was dead. He was promptly told, "Haven't you heard of reincarnation?"
Just about peed myself with laughter. He is an eternal optimist! (See my garden where he has been bringing dead birdies since he was two claiming they would go to heaven this way! :) )
I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

LOL, that's cute!

I am going to pack my kids up (16 and 14) and travel 12 hours to have christmas at Grandma's house.

Because at Grandma's house Nick will be there. Nick is my 4 year old nephew. 4 year olds are what christmas is all about. Thank God Santa still lives.

Got to thank my little brother, cause he has another one in the oven, making sure that christmas will be a joy that much longer.

:)

I can't wait till Next year when I can watch my Roo open his firt present..I would have to say that brings me happy thoughts.. I get to see the wonderment in his/her eyes... And the first Christmas tree...

One year old's aren't quite to the rip and shriek phase. It may be two years before Roo has caught on to the idea of presents. But you'll get to help open them in the meantime.

Christmas at grandma and grandpa (my parents) includes 5 kids ages 3 to 10- they are 3,3,5,8,10. There isn't anything quite like being literally buried in wrapping paper as it all goes flying at once. They rip so fast!!! Each of them gets 10 or 12 boxes from me, plus the stuff from the rest of the family, and they are still done opening in about 30 minutes. Maybe 45 tops if I can slow them down so that I can see what they are all doing!

The looks on their faces as they run into the living room and see what santa left...that makes every headache, fight and paper cut worth it.

One of my favorite pictures

is my diaper clad son, bending over to look up the open chimney, after spotting the empty glass of milk and cookie crumbs on the hearth!

:)

Kids at the holidays are great. One of my favorite Christmas gifts every year usually arrives around Jan 4th. Every year, I get several video cassets, of my cousins opening Christmas gifts. I have all of the tapes stowed away, and then, in the summer, when I visit the cousins, I bring them up and watch the tapes again, with the kids. It's a great way to feel close to all of the little hellions, whom I miss. I also have my twin godkids who I will go to the mat for everytime. I'm a sucker for kids, and around the holidays, I love seeing the joy and discovery on their faces.

Two weekends ago my man and I made 3 foot high christmas trees with our two kids out of coke boxes. The trees are 3D and stand up. They also made decorations out of cardboard and coloured them with crowns. The trees are great. The big 'real' tree seems kind of cold sitting there even if the other trees are made of cardboard with no tinsel.

My 6 yr old was explaining to Nana what their trees looked like yesterday. Nana had a questioning look on her face. 6 yr old said to her, "Don't worry Nana they are modern trees, you might not understand."............ well it was funny when she said it :)

My class made jingle bell necklaces and finished our letters to Santa today. It took three days, but they are finally done.

My nephew is 5 this year and Christmas is his favorite time of year. I haven't opened a present since his second Christmas (he was 18 mos.) He enjoys the unwrapping so much that he opens his and then "helps" me with mine. He's also at the stage that he tells you what you're getting if the present is from him.

For your reading pleasure, here are my kids letters. Names changed, of course. (They're in Kindergarten, so I'm not a spelling Nazi with them [unless it's a sight word we've learned, those have to be spelled correctly])

Jimmy gets my vote. He did not ask for something special and he thought of someone else besides himself :)

That may have been because they're trying to butter Santa up. We read Peter Claus and the Naughty List on Monday and after hearing that Santa's son was on the naughty list, they may be a bit worried.

Santa is real

I never had anything for Christmas but that doesn't matter. I have been Santa once. A snowy day, my friend had rent a cart with a horse full of bells. The whole street had heard us coming.
6 kids, 6 packs in my red bag. I made them sing on my lap. Then I went fishing for the right gift. 6 out of 6, I didn't miss one.
What was the chances of getting all the 6 in the order ?
That 's why I know that Santa is real.

Merry Christmas to you all.
