In the bookstore, ten-year-old boys were always looking at anatomy books. If they were too young, what were they doing it for?

Who are any of you to label people too young for one thing or another? I was a resource to my classmates, because I had done the research and could be relied upon to pass on the unvarnished facts. And my classmates were two years older than I was.

Lauren Hynde has the lock, here. Kids don't care, teens can't be stopped, and punishment is illegitimate as well as pointless. You have no authority. As parents what you actually have is responsibility. Learn the difference.

What people in a porn site are wasting their time on this discussion for...!

This is a very interesting thread

I've read through the thread and found it very interesting. Well, what can I say on this topic? Don't have any kids and most likely won't for another five years minimum.

We've all heard the stories about sex crazed Swedes. The Swedish sin blah blah. It's all a wonderful myth in my book, but some of it is probably true. Yes, people talk openly about sex. Yes, like any other country the TV and newspapers will teach us tons we didn't want to know about sex. On the other hand, the debates are often quite open.

In 6th grade (12y/o) we had a class about puberty. Naturally everyone had already read that chapter. Throughout 7-9th grade we had sex ed in various forms (biology class, independent talkers etc). It was focused on more about your thoughts about love, relationships and sex than the whole physical and technical aspect. I liked that.

Personally I do believe the open attitude is a big help. If it's not so taboo, then it's easier to inform the kids. They'll listen and they'll ask when needed. Over here kids might not always ask their parents, but there is always some adult you can ask. In Sweden kids are amazingly aware who they can turn to when in need of help.

For me, well I found dad's Playboy mags at the age of ten. Had lots of nice stays in the garage. Cabel TV gave me access to both soft and hardcore porn. I watched it. Around 15 I got bored with it all. lol I hope that I'll be open with my kids about love, relationships and sex. That's all I can say at this stage.
