What are your view points on Child stars. Do you think it is not only beneficial, but proper, that "kids" should live a life so "unkidlike", at the ages that some of these children are being thrust into the spotlight?

I saw a TV show where a bunch of ex-child stars sat around discussing their experiences. It sounded to me that while their show was hot, they were treated like little kings and queens, and as soon as they weren't cute anymore, or their show wasn't popular anymore, they were discarded like yesterday's newspaper. This caused some severe problems with a few of them, understandably.

I don't think it's as bad now as it used to be, Jackie Cooper told of the time the director needed him to cry in a scene, so they took his dog behind a wall and pretended to shoot it.

Very few of these people stay in the business as adults. Ron Howard is a rare exception.

This is more about celebrities in general than child stars, but some child stars fit into this observation.

Did you ever watch a show about a fallen celebrity?
It always goes something like this:

I had it all. Fame. Fortune. Love. Respect. Women. But I threw it all away, and now I'm living in the gutter.

Okay, fine, I think while watching these programs. But one question always comes to mind.
Why does their gutter always look suspiciously like my neighborhood, where I've lived a contented life for the last 38 years?
