Child of the Night (Closed for Lotus_Maiden)

His blood tasted as delicious as the first time. Raven didn’t hold back, draining him as much as she could without killing him. Spoiled blood never had the same taste or affect. Besides, she wanted to keep him. His blood was too precious for just one time feeding. She needed to keep him. At least until she could find another blood source like his.

The vampire watched the sleeping beauty in the dark corner of the living room. Her cheeks were rosy and lips bright red. Her eyes were clear and alert. She heard his heartbeats and gurgling blood loud and clear. Once he stirred, she stepped out of the shadow and settled on the coffee table in front of the couch. “Easy. You’ve lost a lot of blood. No sudden movement or you’ll just pass out again,” she warned him.

“Tell me about yourself Jack,” she questioned with no urgency in her voice. She acted like they were just two friend chatting away. She knew he was too weak to run. She could always find him if he runs away again. She wanted to know more about him, not that she cared for the human. She wanted to understand how he possessed this type of blood. Was there other like him? She must know!

Jack heard Raven's words as he started to get up. The attempt was futile, just as she said it would be. He felt dizzy as he tried to get up and just laid back down. "What the fuck did you do to me?" he asked looking over at Raven. He finally got a very good and detailed look at her. "Who are you? Who do you work for? What do you want from me?" he asked in protest. He knew that if she wanted information than he was going to have to put up a fight to not tell him a thing.

As he laid on the couch he started to move his hand under one of the pillows, looking for one of the police officer's guns that he had taken. He was somewhat surprised when he couldn't find it, though he didn't seem too surprised to see Raven showing it to him. He started to cough a little bit while trying to keep his composure. He had been involved in mock kidnappings before and was hoping that his training would pay off.

Raven laughed at his questions. "You got quite a potty mouth, Jack. Oh, I only take a few pint of your blood that's all. You won't die of it. I make sure of that. You can call me Raven. Oh, are you looking for this?" She mocked, flashing his gun in her hands. She popped out the magazine, emptied the chamber, and pulled the bullet out one by one. She laid them on the coffee table once she was bored with it.

She then bounced on top of him. Her legs straddled his sides. Her dark eyes glared down at him. "Isn't it obvious what I want?" Her tongue ran across her lips. "Your blood. It's." Inhaledd. "Exquisite." Exhaled. "So tell me, Jack. How does one get your blood type? Have you have a blood transfusion? Hmm, I wonder if you family posseses it too. Any siblings? Alive parents?"

Her sharp fingernails outlined his jawline. One applied just enough pressure to cut a small thin streak across his cheek. "Don't make me torture the answers out of you," she warned with a sly smile. "I don't like bruised meat. Makes the blood bitter."

Jack watched as she answered his questions and disassembled one of the guns. It was obvious that she knew what she was doing. He watched as she jumped onto him. He groaned as she landed on him. He was somewhat surprised that Raven had landed perfectly on him. "Fine, Raven," he said, "why do you want my blood? Is it some sick fetish you have?" he asked. It wouldn't be the first time some crazy psycho attacked him, but he was very impressed with how strong and quick she was.

Jack figured that she wasn't going to be making any offers anytime soon. He figured if he answered her questions than maybe she would be willing to let him go. "I have a rare blood type called Rh-null. There's like only less than 100 people in the world with it. It can be given to anyone which makes it extremely rare," he told her. "I don't know how it happened, if it's genetic or not, but I found out after a bad transfusion took place in the Middle East when I was in the Marines." He looked her in the eyes as he spoke, he could feel the blood trickle down his cheek from her cut. "It's worth a lot and I can make a lot selling it to save lives. So why do you want it?" he asked hoping she would give somewhat of a humanistic answer.

He hadn't found out if anyone in his family had it or not since he wasn't on the best terms with them. But he figured if he could get the focus on him and not on them than she may forget. Jack thought about seeing if she would let him go. "If I promise to donate some to you for some sick reason will you let me go?" he asked inquisitively. He was still trying to figure out what she was. She just looked too normal to be as quick and strong as she had proven herself to be.

Vampires were known to be much stronger and stealthier than mere humans. However, Raven felt sturdier tonight. No doubt his rare blood had a hand in it.

“Is it some sick fetish you have?” he asked.

He wouldn’t, in a million years, have guessed her real identity. After all, vampires were nothing but mythical and fictional creatures in novels and films. She had kept it secret for almost century now, so another minute or two wouldn’t matter. Besides, it was a bit fun to keep him in the dark a little longer. So Raven responded with just a long chuckle.

“Rh-null,” she repeated after he had explained his time as a Marine. “Hm, what’s the chance of me stumbling into another rh-null carrier? At least I got very lucky once.” She glanced back down at Jack.

“Sell it? Save life? What a waste. Isn’t it obvious why I want it?” Her finger wiped the blood off his cheek, put into her mouth and tasted those barely there droplets. She resisted another feeding. He needed to recover if she wanted to keep draining him. “You’re food source, Jack.”

She leaned forward until their noses touched. “I’m not letting someone as rare as you go. Once you can get your footing again, you’re driving us to my place. Any resistance---.” Her hand grabbed onto his pex. “---I’ll rip your heart out. Understand? Now rest up. We'll leave soon." She rested on head on his chest, laying fully ontop of him now.

"Ungodly small," Jack said as she asked what here chances of finding someone else with his blood type was. He looked at her as she seemed so curious as to why it was so important as a blood type. For a moment he thought about how good her body looked. It was hard not to think that when she was on top of him.

"Fine, I'll play along. I'm a fucking food source," he said mockingly. He watched as she sucked the traces of blood on her finger from his cheek. He couldn't help but to think as to how crazy she was. He couldn't help to look into her eyes as their noses touched. He figured rather than to risk pissing her off and killing him, he may as well be quiet. He laid his head back and closed his eyes as she told him to rest up. Eventually she would need to tell him where they were going. He figured once he knew that he could find a way to escape from her.

Raven laughed at his mockery. His chest heaved her head up and down with each breath. Although she stayed quiet atop, she listened to his heartbeats recovering and pumping blood. She found the beats mesmerizing since she didn’t have one herself. His body heat was also addictive. “Mm, you humans are so warm. Put your arms around me,” she demanded. She wiggled against his as if that would allow her to bury deeper onto him.

Her head shifted, facing and looking up at him with her chin resting on his chest. “You still have no idea what I am huh?” she asked the obvious. “I’m a vampire, Jack. A child of the night," she confessed in a nonchalant tone, similar to someone would say the sky is blue. It had been a long time since she told anyone. So she was interested how he would react. He probably thought of her on a whole never level of crazy.

Jack obliged and put his arms around her. "Vampires don't exist," he said as he continued to have his eyes closed. "As far as I know you're some crazy stalker with a blood fetish." He kept his eyes closed as he tried to focus on having a breathing pattern to get some sleep in. There was no doubt that he thought she was beyond crazy.

Jack drifted off for a while. He wasn't fully aware of how long he was out, he just remembered waking up and seeing Raven still on him, as if she hadn't moved at all. "How long was I out for?" he asked. Jack was hoping that it was a while since he was going to be forced to go back into town where he probably wasn't going to be too welcomed by the previous actions. He thought about it at the same time and realized that the police car would be a bit of a problem.

"So," he started to ask, "if you are a vampire why don't you prove it?" He figured she would have a hard time doing so as he started to sit up a little bit.

She scoffed when he voiced his disbelief at her confession. She expected the skepticism. She watched him sleep for the whole half an hour, without a word or single movement. Once he came to again, she sat up and got off the couch. “Prove? Typical. Fine. Don’t blink.”

Raven sped walk into the kitchen and came back with a knife in hand before he could fully sat up. She gave her arm a long deep cut. She did wince slightly from the pain. The dark blood trailed the tip of the blade slicing through his skin. She then bought her bleeding arm to her lips. Just as she licked the bloody trail, the wound healed. “See? How many humans you do can do that?” She held her cut and scar free white arm out to him.

“Now, on your feet. We’re going to the Triumph Tower,” she ordered. Ironically, the vampire had secured one of the luxury flats on the top floor of skyscraper. She glanced out the window, checking the sky for any sign of daybreak and the idle cop car.

Jack started to sit up as Raven got off of him and went to the kitchen and back in record time. He watched as she cut her arm as if it was nothing. "Holy fuck!" he exclaimed as he watched the blood. He was a bit more frightened when he saw her lick it then revealing no wounds at all. "I thought vampires weren't real," he said as he finished sitting up. He looked over her pale arm, touching it to make sure it wasn't a trick.

"How about we make a deal?" he asked looking into her eyes. "The last thing I want is to be driving a car with someone, or something, bursting into flames because the sun might come up. How about if we leave after the sun goes down tonight. That way I can also get a different car for us besides the cop car everyone will be looking for." He knew his logic was fairly sound. He hoped that Raven would accept his deal and let him go free.

He stood up, feeling a little light headed still from his blood loss. If that was the case, he was already thinking in his head on how to get away again. "I mean, going into the city is one thing," he added, "but Triumph Tower is on the other side of town."

"Well, you thought wrong," she snickered, which turned into loud laughterm "Haha, burst into flames. That would work out so well for you. After my true-death, then you can just drive off." Even thought she mocked, she thought and agreeded with his deal. Even with Rh-null blood, the sun was still toxic to her flesh. She might not burn as quickly but she would still burn.

She looked out the window, searching for any sign of sun light before looking back at her food source. She warned, "You know, where you run, I can still find you right? I get extremely hungry after a chase. So if I have to go hunting you again after sun sets this evening, I can't guarantee not drinking you to your death." She got up close to him, her chest pressed against his, and looked up at him. "Regardless how rare you are. You understand?"

Jack watched as she laughed. He knew there was no doubt about her being able to track him. Any thought of him thinking that she was just a crazy individual disappeared with the knife display. "Sorry, I'm not an expert in supernatural shit," he said as she mocked him. "All I know is that I don't know what would happen, so I'm just lessening the risk."

Jack started to stand up as Raven walked over to the windows. He was still a little bit weak from having so much of his blood drained. He listened carefully as she made her warning. "I know. I don't doubt it," he said as he felt her chest press against his. "I just need a few more hours of sleep, go find a new vehicle and some food for us. I don't know if you eat anything that isn't living though," he admitted as he studied her face intently. "Sundown is at about 6:30 tonight. If I'm not back by then feel free to hunt me down to your hearts content," he offered. After telling her that he went to the main bedroom and laid down on the bed to get a few hours of sleep.

It was a little before 11 when Jack woke up. He got up feeling a lot more refreshed since losing so much of his blood. As he took a quick shower he continued to remember the warning that Raven had given him. He figured it was time to start thinking worse case scenarios with his actions and thinking she could really sense him. This lead to the obvious conclusion that trying to kill her while she was sleeping wasn't the best idea as she may fight back and kill him instead. As he got dressed in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt he went into the kitchen to drink some water.

Jack drove to town and parked out of sight from where a lot of people would be looking. He looked at the money and saw how much he had. He knew it wasn't going to be enough to buy a car and the ID's he had didn't help either. As he approached the center of town he looked and saw a small cafe. He went in and ordered some food. As he waited for it he looked around, scouting to find someone. As his food arrived he ate it and asked some of the locals where things were around here. When he finished he walked over to one of the bars and ordered a drink. As luck would have it, there was a woman who looked very similar to Raven sitting farther down the bar from him. He looked at his watched and noticed he had about four hours before he would have to be back.

He sat next to the girl and introduced himself as Ryan as he ordered a drink for him and then her. There was no denying that he was very interested in her and they spent the next few hours talking to each other. He found out her name was Beth and that she was from out of town as well. After a few more drinks he made the offer of making her dinner back at his place. Once she accepted he helped her get to her car and then had her follow him back to the cabin. When he arrived back at the cabin with her, Jack escorted her in and turned on the lights. He knew he was back in time. He still had close to an hour before sundown. Jack figured he may as well take advantage of the opportunity and started to kiss Beth as they sat on the couch. They continued making out for a while, not paying attention to the fact that it was getting darker sooner than he thought.

Like the day before, Raven dug herself a bed before daybreak. Jack had already retreated to the bedroom and probably didn’t notice her action. She rose as soon as the sun had set.

There was a different car parked where the police car did yesterday. His scent was in the air, which meant he was back inside the cabin. He wasn’t alone. Estrogen was also in the air. He had guest? Was this his back-up? Were they plotting against her? Many Questions continued to cross her mind as she approached the cabin. Their moans drifted through the door cracks.

Raven rushed into the cabin and stood right behind the woman. Her movement was so quick that the door never seemed to open and close to human eyes. Her grabbed the other woman’s throat and forced her head back so she could stared down into her eyes. The guest didn’t have her blouse or pants. Her bra was pushed down with her breasts hung bare. Her panties tangled around her ankle.

It didn't a genius to figure the situation. She played coy, "Ah, what did I interrupt? Who do we have here, Jack?" She noted how much the guest resemble herself, from her long dark hair to the eyes and body frame.

Jack watched as Beth was pulled back from him in the blink of an eye. Raven had moved so quickly it took him a moment to realize he wasn't holding her breasts anymore. As soon as he had heard Raven speak he realized what had happened. "Raven, this is Beth. I met her today while getting some supplies for our trip and we had some drinks. She decided to come back here and we were having some fun while waiting for you," he told her.

He looked at her and saw some of the fear in Beth's eyes. He figured he already knew the answer to the question he wanted to ask but still decided to take a chance. "Any chance we might get to have a threesome?" he asked as he looked over both ladies. The cold, dark stare that he was getting from Raven was more than enough of an answer. "OK, no threesome. But," he started to add as he made himself comfortable, "I grew up not being allowed to play with my food. I didn't know if you had the same stipulation." He was hoping that it would sink in that Beth was nothing more than a source of food for Raven.

He got up and walked over to the coffee table and retrieved Beth's purse. "This is going to be yours now. You'll have an ID and no one will get suspicious of us if something happens since Beth lives like 10 hours away from the city. I figured you could dine on her and spare me so that I could drive without losing blood." He knew that it was a dick thing to do, to basically give Beth a death sentence that she probably didn't deserve. But he had been trained to survive and if that meant making difficult sacrifices, than he would have to live with it. He watched to see what Raven was going to do as he sat back down on the couch.

Raven eyes narrowed darkly as they stared at him. His some suggestion was both amusing and displeasing. Did he think another mere human could replace his position? She, or Beth as he called her, didn’t have the blood that the vampire craves for. Besides, she didn’t need anyone to catch her food. Her eyes followed his movement and listened to his explanation.

“And why do I want to be her?” she questioned, again amused and bewildered this time. She had lived among humans for decades, no centuries. She had many aliases over the years. Of course, Jack didn’t know that. She laughed out of the blue. “You think I’m a vampire on the run? Whose home is the wild and sleeps in graveyard? Hahahahaha!”

“Wait. You’re a what?” Beth muttered with her neck still bent back and eyes casted up at Raven.

CRACK! The vampire snapped the girl’s neck without hesitation. The body slummed and fell onto the ground with a big thud. Raven stood in front of Jack with a blink of an eye. Her mouth dipped closely to the nape of his neck. “I will only dine on Rh-null now.” She inhaled deep and resisted feeding. He was right; he needed to be alert for the drive. “Oh, don’t you worry. I’ll play with my food, with you, soon enough.” She licked from the side of the neck to cheek. Her fingers wrapped the back of his neck and pulled him down. Her mouth pressed roughly against his. She bit on his lower lip, just enough to punctured a small hole. She sucked hard for a tiny drop.

Pushing him back before she loses control, Raven ordered, “Let’s get going. Stop stalling. Take me home. I need a shower. The dirt in this area stinks.” She turned her heels and headed for the door. She didn’t give the corpse another look.

Jack watched as Raven snapped Beth's neck like a twig. He figured that there was the logical choice that would happen. He was sad but yet relieved that Raven wouldn't need to drink from him until later. He figured it wold be several days before Beth's body was found, longer to ID her and even longer to figure out who was around here with her car gone and the police car still there. Jack quickly put on his jeans and shoes and checked Beth's clothes before grabbing the purse and heading out to the car.

As he got in and started to drive to the city he looked over at Raven. "While you may be able to travel by alternative methods, I still need to make sure I can get gas and some other things. So until we get to your place, if something should happen, just call yourself Beth and we should be fine."

Even with the roads being clear so early it took a descent amount of time to get back into town. Though the car was going to be ditched somewhere Jack still pulled over and used one of the credit cards to get a full tank of gas. He also got a few things from inside the gas station. "Don't worry, the next stop will be a few blocks from the Triumph Tower," he assured her.

Close to an hour later they were walking down the street with a few bags of groceries since Jack was unaware of what Raven had at her place as far as food wise. The car was hidden in an abandoned lot where it would take some time before it was found. Jack followed Raven as they approached the Tower and followed her. The fact that she moved, what seemed to be quicker than before, and snapped Beth's neck made it to where Jack knew he wouldn't stand a chance with trying to make a run for it. He waited with her as the elevator took them up to her place.

Raven looked over at Jack the driver when he once again recommended her to take on the alias. She shrugged and nodded in agreement this time. She waited in the car when he stopped for gas and snacks. Although she didn’t say a word, her patient was thinning. She stayed quiet and went along with his plans from hiding the car blocks away to walking the rest of the way. She was certain he was stalling and leaving trails for whoever wants to look for him. Yet, she didn’t care. She had all the confident in the world to fend off a few cops or whoever comes rescue him. She had been through worse after all.

Her arm hooked onto his as the approached the Tower. Made it seem like they were a couple who just returned from grocery shopping. She exchanged a few words with the doorman before headed into the elevator. It slowly ascended them to the top floor. She glanced down at the plastic bags in his hands before looked up at him. She couldn’t help to smile and scoff. Wasn’t he supposed to be a prisoner, hers? He sure acted more like a guest, a VIP one at that. Then again, a healthy food source meant more feeding for her.

She escorted to her place. At first glance, her living space seemed simple. It was a studio loft. There was a kitchen as one enters. The kitchen opened to the seating area. A ceiling to floor bookshelf separated the bedroom that led out to the balcony. However, there was a hidden door on one of the walls. Behind that was an enclosed and heavily enforced room where she actually slept in daytime. The place was neat and clean with simplest and minimal decors.

As soon as the door closed behind them, she lurched at him. Her teeth sank into his flesh. The smell and taste of his blood washed over her. She moaned satisfyingly as she drank.

Jack took a quick glance at his new "home" that he was going to be residing in. He noticed the fact that it was a studio loft that was very open. He saw the bookcase filled with what he imagined were hundreds of years of books. He took a few steps in to see how most of the place looked. After a moment he heard the door close. He turned around to ask Raven where he should put his things. Jack didn't expect to see what happened next.

As he turned he saw Raven approach. Her fangs fully exposed. It was too quick and too short of a space for him to do anything. The next thing he knew he felt her fangs pierce his neck, yet again, and could hear her sucking on his blood. "F--f-fuck," he struggled to say, "I--didn't expect this to happen--," he said as he started to black out. His grip loosened on the plastic bags allowing them to fall as he yet again prepared to lose more blood.

He couldn't tell how long he had been out for, however, it still looked dark. Hopefully it wasn't as long as before. Jack took a moment to let his eyes get adjusted to the area. He didn't know why but it felt like he knew where Raven was. He knew she was sitting close by him as he wondered if it was a case of deja vu playing out. "Am I able to lift my head up yet, or is it going to take some time again?" he asked.

Raven had all the intention to stop before he got too weak. She couldn’t help it. Next thing she knew, Jack passed out. She groaned, holding onto the unconscious body and cursing to herself, “Oops, shit, my bad.” She dragged and dumped the body into the brand new bed. She couldn’t remember the last time she actually sleep on it.

While he was out, she put up the grocery and things. Besides the fridge, where she kept bags of blood that she had raided from blood banks, she didn’t use anything else in the fully loaded kitchen. She would eat human food in public. It had neither negative effect nor positive nutritional for the vampire. She just did it to look humanly. Animal blood was actually better, but she found them to rancid for her delicate palate; especially now she had tasted his.

When he woke up, she was on the bed next to him, peeling and coring an apple. “Here, eat this.” She pressed the fruit up to his mouth. “Lift away. I didn’t drink you too much this time. I do need to let you rest for a couple days though. You’re looking awfully pale. So how you liking your new home?” With a wave of her hand, the curtains separated. The skyline lighted up behind the ceiling to floor windows. They could see pretty much the whole city from bed.

“You’re free to roam in the morning. At night, you’re mine. Got it? And if you want to do your business,” her hand grabbed his groin brazenly, “Finish it before sun set. Unless she’s a Rh-null, I have no interest.”

Jack took his time getting up, not wanting to risk passing out. He was surprised that Raven had actually peeled him an apple and gave it to him. "Thanks," he said as he started to take a bite out of it. He listened patiently as she told him she would need a break from drinking his blood. He also was a bit relieved to hear that he would have some freedom during the day. He felt her grip on his groin as she told him to make sure he took care of his business during the day. Jack thought about how he was seeing someone a few days before the whole incident occurred. "Well," he thought to himself, "she's probably not going to be into me anymore."

"So, how do you afford this place?" he asked out of curiosity. "I mean, how do you pay for everything?" He took another bite of his apple while looking at her face. "I can't really go look for a job with a warrant out for my arrest or anything," he pointed out. He stood up and walked out to the balcony, looking at the skyline. He never thought that the city could look so good from this view. It was definitely something that he was glad he could see. He heard Raven walk out to the balcony behind him. "What does my blood do to you exactly?" he asked as he looked over at her while still admiring the view of the city. He could tell it would be daybreak within the next few hours.

It was in Raven’s best interest to keep him healthy. So she didn’t mind feeding him. She would force him to eat if she has to. She didn’t have to tonight, because he took the apple and ate it without question.

She gave one word reply regarding to his affordability question, “Donors.” The long answers that she not only robbed the humans of their blood, but also their wallets, jewelery and such. Moreover, she had her own share of wealth collected over her hundred years of life. Though she didn’t stay in one place for long because her forever youthfulness would attract unwanted attention.

“I’m not completely sure,” she confessed, standing next to him on the balcony. “I feel stronger. All my senses heighten much more than just regular blood.” She looked down at the spot where the sun had marked it from the day before. Of course, it had completely heal now. “And it seems like I can even endure the sunlight for longer.” She rose her eyes up to him and confessed with a slight sarcasm, “So Jack, you’re the second best thing ever happened to me.”

This was the first time she actually studied him this long and closely. Her eyes wandered around his body. He was a handsome human, dark hair, alert eyes, good built and delicious blood. Even after two feedings, he was still standing; excellent stamina. Her eyes settled on the fly of his pants and recalled the stiffness she had saw back at the cabin. She wondered if it felt or tasted as good as it looked. He wouldn’t be the first prey to have sexual relationship with her. Though she hadn’t have one with his special blood. Was his other body fluid have special enhancement as well?

She stepped closer to him. Her mouth went for the nape of his neck again but she didn’t bit him this time. She kissed the spot she had bitten twice. “Tell me, anything else rare about you?”

Jack looked at her as she told him that he was the second best thing to ever happen to her. "So what's the first?" he asked with some curiosity, "being turned into a vampire?" He listened to her as she admitted that she didn't know how the blood he had changed her except by the normal enhancements, as well as the sun.

"I don't think there's anything more rare about me," he said. He wasn't exactly sure by what she meant but aside from his training in the military and his blood he was just another normal person, in his mind. He winced a little as she went towards his neck. Luckily, he was spared from being bitten again. Perhaps it was from her earlier comment when she said he was looking pale. "So how much of that shit in the movies is real? I mean, I know you have super strength, speed and all, but can you turn into a bat? Does drinking my blood and not turning me make me have a bond with you? Do you actually hypnotize people?" He hadn't realized that he had so many questions until he finished asking them.

Jack turned around and looked at the bed. He hadn't thought of it before but after studying the layout of where the bed was it suddenly occurred to him to ask. "So, do you sleep somewhere else besides the bed? I mean, the curtains protect against the sun, but it seems like it wouldn't help all that much." He made his way back to the bed, sitting on it, looking at Raven as she was still on the balcony.

Raven didn't exactly know what rarity he would have. Then again, she didn't know about his Rh-null blood until yesterday.... She chuckled when he correctly guessed the best thing that had happened to her. “Precisely,” she confirmed.

She sat on top of the railing while he ranted off a long list of questions. Her chuckles became louder with each question. She found his curiosity both amusing and adorable. Since she planned to have him around for awhile, sharing a bit of herself was befitting. “No, I don’t turn into a bat. Bats have nothing to do with my kind. I don’t hypnotize nor have a bond with you just by drinking your blood. So I don’t read your thoughts or share your sentiments. I’m just like you, except I survive on blood, faster, stronger, older, and nocturnal. Haha, okay, okay. Maybe I am not that like you. But I'm definitely more related to human than some blind, cave-dwelling animal."

She looked away, hiding her grimace while remembering the day that changed her life. She explained with a hint of bitterness as if she still felt the pain and agony of that days ages ago, “Turning a human isn’t as easy and pleasant as it’s done in movies. You’ll have to be drain to on the verge of death, and then feed with our blood over course of days, weeks even. Depending how quick you can flush out your all of your human lineage. If you’re interested, I can make that happen,” she offered jokingly.

She remained on the balcony and looked back into the apartment at the man sitting on her bed. “My day bed is through there.” She nudged her head to her left, his right. “You can’t get the door open. So don’t even think about dragging me into the sunlight while I have my beauty sleep,” she smirked, but didn't elaborate. She hopped off and walked back inside. Her hand held out to him, palm up. “Come. You need food. Do you cook? Or should we dine out?”

Jack watched as Raven chuckled and then laughed at his questions. It wasn't necessarily his fault, Hollywood had conceived what vampires can and can't do. Up until the other day he had no idea they were even real. He listened as she explained how it worked to turn someone into a vampire. "So if you get rid of all the lineage do you also end up replacing all of their blood? If so, does that mean, in theory, if you did that to me, I wouldn't have Rh-null? I'd just have vampire blood in my system?"

He watched as Raven indicated where her room was. In his mind he thought that was a bad idea, giving him that kind of information. However, as soon as she mentioned that he wouldn't be able to open it he realized why she told him. Jack was starting to feel more awake when she got off the balcony and walked over to him. He took her hand as he stood up. "I can cook," he offered. He looked at the clock and saw how early it was which meant that even if they went out to eat, they wouldn't be sitting there very long.

Jack walked with Raven into the kitchen and started to open the fridge. "So, what do you eat?" he asked as he started to get some eggs out. He figured since it was almost morning breakfast seemed appropriate. As he started to make the food he kept looking over at her. At times she seemed so lifeless as she just watched him cook. "So, have you turned a lot of people over the ages? Are you the only vampire left?" he asked. Jack was hoping that she wasn't getting too annoyed by the questions he was asking.

As he finished making the eggs he got some bread out and began to put it in the toaster. A few moments later he found the plates and put the food on it. Jack brought it over to the table and sat down. "I guess this is your dinner for the night for you," he said as he waited for Raven to come over.

“Precisely,” she agreed when he asked if he will lose the Rh-null blood if he’s turned.

Raven watched him rummaging through the fridge and taking out ingredients he needed to cook. “I’m not a picker eater,” she replied. It was somewhat the truth. She didn’t care what she eats; what she drinks was a different story. She was impressed that he didn’t daze or question the bags of blood in the fridge. She watched him quietly, letting him find out the layout and roam the kitchen freely. She only spoke to answer him, “I’m not the only one left, but I don’t know the other’s whereabouts. I have only turned a handful. Two died, three remains.”

On the contrary to annoyance, she found his questions refreshing, almost welcomed them. She hadn’t speak to anyone so frankly for a long time. Maybe having a pet human wasn’t a bad idea after all.

She sat across from him, stabbing her food with a fork and pushing it around her plate like a child refusing to eat vegetables. “My dinner was you Jack,” she corrected and then asked, “Tell me, why did you quit the Marine? What made you join the first place?”
