I'm told I had measles before I was old enough to remember. I do remember both chicken pox and mumps. The pox was just uncomfortable, but I got to stay home and read, which was fine. The mumps happened on the first day of vacation at the fish camp, so that was just horrid. I was pre-vaccination, and lucky none of them were worse. Both Ruglets got all the vaccinations we could get them.

Well thank you checking but we're not in disagreement and you've simply cherry picked a couple of exceptions, not the general policy. The general policy is to not vaccinate children ( unless as your quote alludes to, that there may be adults/children whose immune system may be compromised and at risk ) . The general population is not at risk.

Chicken pox, measles, mumps, I had them all as a child. Back when I was young and started school there were no vaccines for any of them. I was only vaccinated against polio.

My chicken pox were the result of parental poisoning.

I grew up in a baby boomer neighborhood and there were 23 kids all within a few years of each other on my block. If someone got chicken pox, mumps or measles, ate least 3 or four other kids had it. When we had to stay home from school, there was always company that we were allowed to play with. I don't remember anyone having to be hospitalized or not getting better in a week or so.

It was then generally believed that it was good to get these diseases out of the way when you were young, and there were some parents who would purposely allow their kids to visit others who were sick.

Yes, I was too. I forgot about that one. The vax I got as a kid that left a scar.

Same here. If someone on the block got any, we all wound up with it. All except the kids that went to the parochial schools. They caught it a week later. I don't remember any child getting really sick either.

Although a girl down the street got polio, but not a bad case. She grew up to be a real looker. Nice legs too. I think is was the side effect of the vaccine.

when i moved to the states, i had to have the chickenpox vaccine as my med records from way back then were lost to the aether; i was only able to access them back to my first pregnancy at 23. since i couldn't prove i'd had the pox, the jab was mandatory.

If you joined in 2003 and had been vaccinated for chicken pox then that means you were 8 years old when you joined. So no, you were not vaccinated for them.

huh.....I was pretty sure you were wrong about the need to vaccinate anymore, but it turns out you are correct. They stopped giving the smallpox vaccine back in 1972.

I had a ver mild case of chicken pox when I was about 8-9. It was spring time, and I rode my bike and played outside during my week off school.

Just before I started college, I get shingles, and THAT was a bitch. It was still there when I moved into the dorm. I hope that shit doesn't come back, it felt like my spine itched.
