Chick Fil A Did WHAT After Gay Club Shooting?

My guess is that they pulled a publicity stunt to try and alter their public perception after their 70 year history of homophobia and their commitment to funding groups that present the teachings of Christ as if they create an excuse for hate and bigotry.

How did I do? Good guess?

yes, feeding people

for free is a publicity stunt

GENIUS:rolleyes:

yu have MORE hate for THEM then for MUSLIMS

says alot bout you!

I don't hate them. I believe it is important to know where your money goes when you are the patron of a business:

In 2014, the Chick-fil-A Foundation — the company’s charitable arm — distributed about $4.3 million to non-profit organizations. Of this, nearly a quarter ($1,017,610) went to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The tax-exempt Fellowship says its mission is to “present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.”

The group imparts a strongly anti-LGBT message on its athletes and leaders. Staff and volunteers with the organization have been required to adhere to a strict “sexual purity” policy, prohibiting any “homosexual acts” even for married couples. It reads:

God desires His children to lead pure lives of holiness. The Bible is clear in teaching on sexual sin including sex outside of marriage and homosexual acts. Neither heterosexual sex outside of marriage nor any homosexual act constitute an alternative lifestyle acceptable to God. While upholding God’s standard of holiness, FCA strongly affirms God’s love and redemptive power in the individual who chooses to follow Him. FCA’s desire is to encourage individuals to trust in Jesus and turn away from any impure lifestyle. - attribution to Think Progress

I am not going to support bigotry with my heard earned money and I do not believe in the sincerity of that act on Sunday. It was PR only and not driven by anything else.

They did ok. I never had much of a problem with them before so doesn't mean much to me but they get credit for working on a Sunday which as far as I know is the first time in company history and for lending a hand.
I don't think that makes everything good for all those who did have problems with them before though.

I think I'm more along the lines you are. I don't love how the corporate/bigwigs spent part of their money on organizations using questionable tactics to make people "straight;" but I thought I read a while back after all the controversy they had stopped contributing to that organization. Obviously you can't undo the damage, but I've been of the mindset don't patronize them if you don't like them.

I know a few people who refuse to shop at Target for its liberal stance on many issues.

It's all about public image
A broader appeal
Business.
Just lipstick on a pig.

I don't know. Part of it, yes but they lose a ton of money being closed on Sundays and don't care so to do what they never do has to be about more than business.

Nail, head. (I'm guessing,)

It's my understanding from what I read earlier today (and I could be wrong) that the company never said a word. I know nowadays you can sort of count on social media to do some of the heavy lifting but if it was really just publicity over something they are so vehemently against you'd think that they'd say something.

Social media can do ALL of the heavy lifting for something like this. Chick-Fil-A has rabid fans who are all over social media. The company kept quiet - absolutely vital to getting the kudos, if that's what they were after - and let the process play out. It was a sure thing, with almost no downside.

My religious friends yapped about it all day on SM.

It's like catholic shelters and free kitchens.
Sure, eat and grab a meal. But first, let us tell you about our Jesus.
Nuttins free.

Possibly (or probably) you are correct. But it's unlikely that they had no charitable side to doing it. They haven't really given a shit what people think so far so I gotta believe at least some of it was from their heart.

Thank you for proving that it worked.

Exactly right. They clearly believe that a sex life is meant for procreation and bonding a family. The quote someone put above also says they are against pre-marital sex too but no one cares, instead it's ANTI-LGBTLMNOP!!! They are social conservative. Eat there or don't. That has been their stance the whole time and I think it's a good one for all - no bullshit nor hiding in the shadows, give them your money or don't. I note that the recently opened NYC locations are packed at lunchtime so I guess at the end of the day the complaints are just lip service.

Nasty shit that will turn you into a fat ass anyway...

Doesn't make me want to go to one. Never been to one before and don't have any plans to. Not a big fan of chicken sammiches. They could hate everyone for all I care. Every company does something I don't like.

You just testified to 80 viewers here that it was from the heart.
That's the formula marketers love.
Chicken is cheap.

Amazing how some people just can't admit it when someone does a good deed.
Gotta be a motive. People never do good stuff just because it's nice.
