For those of you going to the Chicago Litogether, would you be interested in doing a book reading early Friday evening (before we get too drunk) or Saturday afternoon?

We could read from our published work (Coming Together or something else) and distribute flyers with links to purchase.

Events are limited to 5 performers.

* 5 people: each gets 5-7 minutes.
* 4 people: each gets ten minutes.
* 3 people: each gets 15 minutes.
* 1-2 people: each gets 20 minutes.

5-7 minutes is perfect for a short (<2K word) read. I'll do one. Do we have four more?

(I have an email in to the establishment to determine just how explicit excerpts can be.)

I'd volunteer, but I'm not absolutely certain that I'll be there yet. :(

I'd be up for that. I can think of a few excerpts from I Believe and Pretty Baby that I wouldn't mind airing aloud. Although, in the case of PB, it might be more prudent for a woman to lend her voice.

Either way, I think it's a wonderful idea!

Phooey! :mad:

Alessia,

Thanks for thinking of us, but we will pass on hosting this event. We try to
host events for books or items that we sell or have sold. Due to the fact
that these are ebooks and we try to avoid CDs and CD-roms when ever
possible, this seems to not fit in here?

You might try Women and Children first or Early to Bed, maybe this would be
up their alley,

Good Luck,
Logan

Damn it.

Great idea, imp - sorry this isn't going to happen.

(And it is their loss.)

:cool:

However, no reason why we can't have an impromptu reading at a bar or something somewhere. I imagine there has to be some place not far from the hotel with an 'open mike' night.

Now wouldn't that be interesting . . . .

I'll look for some places.

Oh, coolness. If you find one, I'll make flyers. :D

We can crash another hotel with a big lounge, maybe.

And there is a comedy club at the Mall.

Hmmmm - this requires some thought.

:cathappy:

(Oh - my T-shirts arrived today! They look great!!)

No, there won't be. Open mic nights around here consist of people performing songs with live bands. There are no poetry readings I've seen in 20 + years in the bars of any suburbs (unless you go downtown where there is much more variety).
