Chicago 4 Litogether - What's in Your Suitcase?

I won't be bringing any food. But I'll pitch in to buy some once I get there.

No worries, handsome. Most local people were able to bring food and serving items, everyone else bought chips and dip and assorted when they arrived.

Remember we have a kitchen with a microwave and full-sized fridge. It makes it much easier to manage a four-day party. Ahem.

;)

hoping the wenchy one and Nero will be bringing some of their goodies.

Note the very clear copy: "bribes to bring a batch of chili." No mention of bribes to leave it at home. ;)

It's really excellent. Just ask me. :D

I'll take your word for it ... maybe it'll match the batch I brought to Chicago 2 -- it literally melted the bowls

Heat isn't everything in a chili. Some heat is needed but there ought to also be significant and identifiable flavors, varying textures, and overall belly-rubbing satisfaction in every spoonful.

It wasn't particularly spicy ... it was just that they were plastic bowls and, at temperature, the chili just melted and warped them into some very interesting shapes :)

you see me mention your food above?

I scanned back, so yes I saw your mention ;)

If there's anything specific you want, you better get your orders in early. It's shaping up where that might be a pretty hectic week around this place

No demands at all. I certainly wouldn't want to create more work for ya. I'll be there Wednesday afternoon so let me know if I can help out. I'm sure I'll love anything you two will bring.:)

Well, I'm sure we'll bring plenty by time all is said and done ... after all, we don't want people getting too hungry to properly party ;)

Shall I bring along some FDA diabetic-approved agave syrup? It tastes a hell of a lot better than Splenda or any of the other ersatz chemical 'sweeteners'?

I love sweet things and umm syrup...but Bear...that sounds awful! Agave?

You have no idea! For those watching their blood sugar it is a gift from Heaven. It comes in two colors. The light is nearly flavorless and is ideal as a substitute for white sugar in any recipe. Just mix 3/4 for any 1 of sugar. And it's perfect for coffee!

The Amber has a mild honey flavor, like 'generic wildflower' honey. It's perfect for pancakes or mixing into whipping cream in one of those CO2 dispensers.

Why bother? Agave is pure fructose. Though it has the same calories as honey, it takes several times as long to digest. That means it doesn't jump into your bloodstream and mess up your chemistry. For normal types, it doesn't make much difference but for the Type II diabetic, it's a godsend. I can even make ice cream with it! And chocolate topping! Imagine, a hot fudge sundae even a diabetic can enjoy.

The result? My glucose is down from 175 to 112. I can control this purely by diet and exercise. By March, I may not even have to take any medications at all! :D
