In the nation’s largest round of closings in a single swoop, 50 of Chicago’s public elementary schools are going away for good.
After months of public hearings, raucous protests, serious safety concerns and lawsuits, the six members of the Chicago Public Schools Board of Education voted Wednesday to close 50 of the 54 targeted in March.
