Today I looked through the list of 'Today's Birthdays' to see if I knew any AH people who had a birthday today.

I didn't see any. Apologies if I missed you - blame it on my advanced age.

What I did see was the variety of Lit names. Mine is fairly innocuous (and is unique). Many are in-your-face statements.

Does you Lit name fit your current Lit personality? Have you ever had any regrets about your choice of name? What would you call yourself if you renamed yourself now?

Nope, mine is just my name and the year of my birth. And that was 1944, not rumours to the contrary, 1844.

"Salvor-Hardon" fits me, or at least the personna I have when I am here. A sexy innuendo variation of the quick thinking, clever, and some what dubious Salvor Hardin of the Foundation book fame. Yes, I am intent on sharming the pants off of people, and I wnat them to know it right up front.

If I were to change it, it would be along the same lines, some other con-artist / ne'er-do-well / silver tongued devil with a wink and a grin.

Mine is a combination of where i live... Texas and a nick name I've used since I first got on the web....Rad.... It's not for radical but for a misspelling of my first name....

Go to Forums Home and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

There you will find a list of everyone on line at Literotica and all those who have a birthday today.

Warning: Both are long lists.

I suppose my name suits me well enough -- I think it falls in the "innocuous but unique" catagories.

Question that arises tho -- rare are the chances one has to name one's self. Usually names come from others without any consultation with you. So, if you were gifted with the power to name people in the AH, who would you rename and what names would you give?

(now THAT should stir things a bit)

I rather like His Majesty for Og, just being me :)

I've been "Cloudy" since I was 12 or 13, so....yeah, it fits. :D

But you are not soft, white or fluffy. Perhaps you are a thundercloud sometimes pregnant with lightning? ;)

Og, you are quite brave throwing that pregnant word around.... :D

Not brave. Just sure that Cloudy would understand what I intended, and she is a friend whose bark is much worse than her bite, even if I prefer her hugs...

I love my AH name, which is also my pen name on most stories and sites. It fits one side of my personality, though not all of me. It's very Roman, hints at my lifestyle, and reflects my not-so-soft side. And it allows for so many different derivatives that even I have been surprised at what it's been shortened to. I don't mind the shortenings, either, especially when I am being my warmer, more affectionate side and the nickname used has such a friendly connotation. As I am capable of being either nice or mean (who isn't), I like that. Mostly, of course, it IS abbreviated, which suggests that my mean streak doesn't come out so much here. Which is good, as I like having so many friends.

My name was not my first choice; that was already taken. Oddly, though, I've grown into it, and now I'm very glad that this is the one I ended up with. It has something of a life of its own, and does that remarkable thing that a really interesting name can do - it has opened out a whole new aspect of myself. I don't think that the other would have been nearly as interesting an experience.

I also like the nicknames I get from it. For some reasons, being "horsey" or "the horse" is quite endearing to me. If I was to change anything at all, I might for simplicity's sake drop the first adjective and just be what I sign myself -

Shanglan

(ETA - I recently read for the first time Og's story of how he got his name, and simply loved it.)

I am satisfied with my nick in every possible way, and I wouldn't change it for the world.

It's me. Cuddly, a little roly poly, a little furry, snuggly.

And with just a hint of danger. Never take a bear lightly.
