Guy discovers wife is cheating, she is a manager, I think he was a salesman. He likes to tinker with electronics, developed an alarm that is hard to shut off. Plants alarm and next time she cheats he sets off alarm and leaves area. At some time in the story she is asked about the plastic encased device on her desk, it is the alarm.
