The thing is I don't see why you can't just walk in and take a knee in that situation. It's a dick move and something you should be frowned at for doing but essentially they wanted a bracket that was more likely to lead to victory and getting there required a strategic loss.

What is bullshit is that the committe didnot disqualify the entire badmiton teams from the cheating countries.

I get that but the Olympics is supposed to be about being the best in the world, being able to beat everyone else. Losing on purpose so you don't have to play someone better sorta goes against that.

The goal is to win a medal, obviously gold if possible.

The IOC, or some other responsible body, devised the tournament structure in a way that actually makes losing a match improve you medal chances. That may be stupid, usually if you lose one plays a more difficult opponent not a weaker one. Anyway, blame the organizer and not the teams competing in a way to maximize their overall success. Playing to lose a battle, if it helps you win the overall conflict, is a strategem as old as the "Art of War" itself.

It's not cheating if the system rewards you for taking that approach.
