Cheap Beer From Days of Yore

How did I miss that? Did you ever do the thing with the can where you cover up the dog's face and it looks like Batman diving between a set of thighs? It's not as rewarding as the Land O Lakes titty lady, but we were easily entertained back in the day.

Ha! No, we were too busy chanting the stupid phrases on the inside of the bottle cap. That and smoking shit weed. Then again, with that combo, im kind of surprised we didnt figure that out!

Now i want a bottle of Red Dog.

Wait, they had cans??

I used to work in a brewery many moons ago. They brewed all the Bud for western Europe plus Holsten pils. They also brewed Kaliber, the alcohol free lager. The way they make it is brew it at 13% then boil the alcohol off. We used to pull it out of the vat before that stage. Rocket fuel.

Ever tried colt45? very strange stuff, then original heiniken in the green cans, or ind coope..... interesting days, how some of us survived is a mystery.

I drank two cans of Colt 45 during my physics final in college. Also, got the highest grade on the test.

as i sit here drinking a 16 oz of milwaukee's best, let me just say: shit still works.

Stationed in San Antonio and Wichita Falls in the 70's you could get Pearl and Lone Star for practically nothing... and clear out a room in nothing flat the next day. It was truly inhuman what that Texas brew could do to your inner workings.

hey...

I haven't thought about Genesee Cream Ale in a long time. That was a go-to, many years ago. I loved those squat green bottles.

And ... Utica Club! I once toured their factory. What else to say?

This is many moons ago but Coors used to be a western thing, not available in the East--presumably because it had to be shipped cold. I remember a friend bringing back a case and we drank the precious nectar as it if were a rare Chateau Lafite Rothschild.

Black Horse Ale

Cheap beer growing up on the east coast in the 80s. This is a fun thread!! View attachment 2122436

Yeungling, genesee, Utica club, rolling schlock, Shaeffer, Pabst, Ballantine, schlitz, schmidts (first beer that ever made me vomit), valley forge, moose head, rheingold, old reading.

In High School we drank a lot of Heidelburg. It was cheap but not bad tasting. As you say, the next day no one wanted to be around us. Those Heidelburg farts were deadly.

An even cheaper beer was Rhinelander. Watery nasty stuff but it was beer.

During my time over the other side of the pacific wearing OD green the PX system had a contract with PBR. The problem was at that time it came in bi-metal cans. The tops were steel so we'd get a case and every one of the damn things had GI gold on them (rust).

Comshaw

Old Milwaukee

In college we could get a case of old swill returnable bottles for 2.50 wed have cases stacked up in our basement after parties and return them all it’d pay for pizza for us the next day
