Charity has use for 50 Shades

Projecting my last posting and getting real about the publishing industry, the mainstream publishing industry hasn't respected any limits in "dangerous" book topics, so that just ain't an issue here.

The bottom line is that James has shown there's a market for light, faux, fantasy BDSM. If there's a market for heavy "realistic" BDSM (and I sort of think there isn't--that there aren't too many reading folks who aren't disgusted by that subject matter), there either would already be a market for it in the mainstream or there will be (which is always possible--and, as some have suggested and which has just been ignored by the sour grapes folks here, might happen because James led the readers/buyers there). That it can't compete in the market with the type of book James has written is entirely based on the publishing industry-perceived (or the real, perhaps) determination that the market isn't big enough to sustain heavy, "real" BDSM.

Oh hell if that was the case EVERY book written by a man that includes a lesbian scene is an insult and brands all bi or lesbian women. Come on dude get a freaking grip.......

No, just the ones who write their bi/lesbian women as badly-researched stereotypes.
