A charismatic retreat leader for an all adult nature resort who behaves in the same manner as Puck in A Midsummer's Night Dream. He goes around spreading thoughts and desires to the resort guests bringing them to a sexual frenzy. Hilarity and sexy adventures ensue.

Whose perspective will the story be told from? Also, is this retreat leader magical? He seems like he would be magical.

Not sure about the hilarity.

There's very little that kills sex dead better than a belly laugh...

Why would that be? Can sex not be humorous? Imagine a guy or girl taking a wrong turn back to their cabin, it's dark so they can't see all that well. After a bit of fumbling around they get to a cabin that they think is theirs. They instead end up in bed with someone else. This situation can be funny and end up with a good sex scene if written right.

Well if he's a Puck like character then I would give him elements of magic to his nature. Also the perspective would work best, in my opinion, as an omnipotent third person.

You try masturbating in the middle of a guffaw. The two activities are mutually antagonistic.

If you want to write a funny comedy, great. If you want to write an on-turning sex scene, great. You just can't have them both at once. Simples.

I see we are in disagreement with one other. There are plenty of good examples in the Humor and Satire story section. The act of actually getting it on might not be funny but the situations before the act or the way characters act afterwards and to each other while seducing one another can be.

I still contend that a story can both be humorous and erotic, maybe not at the same time but separate parts can be.

My highlights. Absolutely, not 'at the same time'...

.. and actually I wish you luck in having these 'separate parts' at all closely juxtaposed. Humour and sex are very, very uneasy bedfellows...

I'm with atariblue on this one. Sex and humor can mix very well (sometimes even at the same time). I used to have a girlfriend who loved to laugh, and we laughed and joked all the time, even during sex. And I've read plenty of stories that were both humorous and erotic. I've written a few that were intended to be that way, but I won't make any claims about if I succeeded or not.

Let me just point out there is plenty of adult movies that are comedies and they work well.

Does humor and sex make for strange bedfellows? That's only if the participants are wearing rainbow wigs, big, red floppy shows and rubber noses. The point is I don't expect anyone to be dressed as a clown while fucking, but if their profession is a circus clown then yeah they can absolutely clown around to develop their plot and character before they strip down to fuck the Ring Master and Trapeze Artist.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this, Some of the worst erotic stories i read were comedies.

Interesting discussion, this. Maybe the world divides in a way I'd never realised... those who can somehow giggle uncontrollably or accept belly laughs from their partner while they're in the throes of sex - and those who would find this ever so slightly atmosphere-wrecking.

I can only say that I belong to the latter clan - and I would immediately chuck any story I was reading which included such stuff as being, for me, totally implausible.
