So I have a nice little thread that has 3 chapters in it, when I decided I wanted to introduce a new chapter that predates Chapter 1, without changing the existing chapters (they are long enough as is anyway).

So if I submitted a Chapter 0, would it display as “first” in the listing?

A totally ugly hack that should work might be:

Ch. 00001
Ch. 0001
Ch. 0002
Ch. 001
Ch. 01
Ch. 02
Ch. 03
Ch. 1
Ch. 2
Ch. 3

Well, that's awful lot of writing backwards, but as an illustration...

You might consider altering the title slightly to show it's out of order, e. g., Jaguar Girls of Gamma Centauri - The Prequel.

Apologies if anyone has written a story with that actual title...

I think this is a good idea - if someone is already reading the series and is on Chapter 3, they might not notice, or think they already read, Chapter 0.

Agree, I would give it a alpha sort rather than try to fit it in numerically (which will more than likely bugger up the sorting algorithm - on occasion the auto-sequencer used to compile your story list loses the plot and doubles up a story sequence).

Someone will use that title, I'm sure. It sounds like something from Golden Age of Sci-Fi magazines. Just imagine the cover!

I wrote a series as Title 01; Title 02; Title 03; and then inserted Title 00 with no problem. That was before Laurel insisted on Ch.xx prefixes. But if you have Title Ch.01... etc and then add Title Ch.00, that should sort correctly.

Brilliant!
