Here is Luke and Kylo Ren to agree

There needs to be a cringe reaction. Or facepalm.

And not for the reason you think: it’s because you used Kylo Ren and Luke in the same sentence. Blasphemer!

Also hi everyone. *waves* 😁
I saw the original post, laughed pretty hard at @Mr_Soup's reaction, but then thought of a Star Trek meme I'd seen recently. Let me tell you, THAT was a deep rabbit hole to dive into. Bright side, I emerged with the meme! Down side, what day is it now?

Some days I feel like sending this song to my supervisors who complain that I leave at 17.30 to pick up my kid from kindergarten....
I swear, next time someone suggest we take a nanny so I can work longer hours and think about my career... I will send it... they won't listen... but I will send it...

Sorry, needed to vent...I am allright again... as you were dear people...
Love,
Thom

"Don't get me wrong. I like this job. I like all of you...well, most of you. However, I only come to work every day because I need to earn a paycheck. I do it to provide for my family and pay the bills. If you're honest with yourself, isn't that why you're here? So, no, I'm not going to miss out on any more time with my kid -- particularly at this precious age -- because you think I need to 'think about my career.' Are we clear?"

I understand. The children are precious and your priority. My daughter is going through something similar. She is looking for a more family friendly place. I wish you the best and less stress.

I can so relate to what you're saying!
I was to young when this was released to understand the lyrics, but now when I have teens i get tears in my eyes when I hear it.

I was stationed on an aircraft carrier. We were the forward-deployed carrier in the Pacific Fleet, so our homeport was in Yokosuka, Japan. Most of those years, we were in the Gulf more than we were in port. We used to hang out in a small local bar called The Beat Club, where they welcomed us to bring in music and videos to play while we sat around, drank and talked. Someone brought in Ugly Kid Joe's video album, which included their cover of that song:

Several of us started singing along. Afterward, it got quiet. Then we started talking about our dads, and what it had been like growing up and trying to connect with a guy who tried his best, but couldn't be around. I always get a lump in my throat when I recall that night, and this song always brings me back to that night.

Exactly this! The reason I wrote this today wasn't even an event today, but the song came by in my playlist and I found tears in my eyes...
