Changing a single story to a Series how-to

I published a story. I thought it was going to be a one-off. But comments are encouraging me to write more and extend the storyline. I also envisioned at least 2 more following stories but didn’t have them written at the time I published.

So how should I change this from a single story to a series? Should I use the Lit publishing interface to create a new series? The new series I could copy-paste story 1 as Series story 1 then add the other 2 or 3 stories to the new series? OR do I start the new series at Story 2 and reference/link the original stand-alone Story 1 from the first story in the new series (Story 2)?

Create a series in control panel

Add the story you have to the series and then add future story’s post being published or at the time of publishing

Simple, assuming you can get future chapters published

If your original story is titled, say:
Alice does Bob
you can simply publish a sequel as:
Alice does Bob Ch. 02
where "Ch" can be replaced with other markers, like "Pt", "Vol", "Bk", possibly others. Plain number also works.

This will cause Lit to create a series automatically, and also manage it automatically for all subsequent installments. Those will be sorted alphabetically, which is why you want that 0 in front of the number, in case you ever go into chapter 10. (Without it, chapter 10 would be put after chapter 1 rather than 9).

If you want different titles for different parts, then you'll have to create and manage the series manually, as mentioned in the post above.

When I've wanted to do that, I just create a "[Story Title] Part 2" and the site makes the series for me.
