A few years ago, some friends and I used to have a weekly challenge to see who could write the best short, short story – exactly 50 words (not counting the title).

I thought it might be fun to revive the idea. Here’s a starter:

The Weather House Rules

The man with the umbrella returned home just as his wife, wearing a pretty pink sundress, left.

Later she returned. But he had to leave.

Standing outside the house, he called her on his cell phone. ‘Whenever I come home, you go out.’

‘Darling, it’s this changeable weather,’ she said.

I think some people are reluctant because I have written so many 50-word stories (11 sets of 15 x 50-word stories = 165) including my current ineligible entry for the Valentine contest.

I've also written a How-To about 50-word stories and their plots.

I may have to try something like this, just for a change of pace and a challenge. My stories almost always end up longer than I intended or expected.

Oops. Sorry, ladies and gentlemen (and others), I clicked the wrong folder for this thread, didn't I. Does anyone know how to move it to the correct one?
