According to Gallup, roughly 39% of American homes have one or more guns. Having said that, there are also 88 guns for every 100 people in America. There is a demographic (Vetteman and that damned fool Lanza woman come to mind) who equate "moar guns" with "moar safe".

Bottom line, they are protectin' their women and proppity from mythical "urban looters" (iggers-nay).

The looters were real during the LA riots and Katrina....wouldn't you know store/home owners who defended their homes/business with guns didn't have their shit burnt down and looted like their unarmed neighbors. Amazing how that works..
