So what kind of cereal do you eat? No real reason. Just wondering since I'm sure to many people it's probably odd that I think plain ole cheerios (not the honey nut kind) taste sweet without sugar.

So are you the kind that loves the little sweet marshmellows with loads of frosted or honey coated bits of yumminess? Or are you more of a plain jane cereal lover with a spoonfull of sugar? Better yet, you may be someone who likes nuts and fruit in your bowl. You may even be a bit of a fruit snob who only adds fresh fruit to their bowl? Are you a crunchy granola kinda person? Or do you just hate cereal and only chew gum? OR do you love cereal AND gum? :D

You left out the option for those who like cereal WITH gum. No, I'm not one of those, but you should at least be fair to those who do.

I'm a plain kind of guy. I also like cheerios, but I need some sugar, too. I also like Wheaties, Life and Shredded Wheat...either the ones that look like little bales of hay or the bite size. See, I did say I was a plain kind of guy.

When I was a kid, my favorite was Krumbles. It wasn't anything fancy...just something that looked like brown twigs. With Google, I found it was based on shreds of wheat but different from shredded wheat in texture. Unlike the latter, it tended to remain crisp in milk. I don't think I much cared that it stayed crisp in milk. It just tasted good. I was pretty plain back then, too. I'm very much a purist at heart. No foo-foo stuff for me.

Usually honey-nut or apple-cinnamon cheerios though, during the summer, I love to pick up fresh fruit and add it to plain cheerios or Special K type flakey cereals.

ETA: The flavored cheerios have become a staple because not only can I eat them for my breakfast but they double as a handy snack for the munchkin when we're on the go.

Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch is my absolute favorite.

For the more grown-up brands, I tend to like Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds and Banana Nut Crunch.

I always eat my cereal really fast, so it doesn't have time to lose its crunch! Soggy cereal and watered-down drinks (from melted ice) are the banes of my existence.

Frosted Mini Wheats are my all-time fave. I also greatly enjoy Wheat Chex and Grape Nuts. I wasn't allowed sugary cereals growing up and it just kind of stuck. Every few years, I crave a bowl of Frosted Flakes, but that's about it.

For the kiddy stuff, my all-time favorites are Fruit Loops and Fruity Pebbles. Followed closely by Lucky Charms. But for the more adult cereals, I like Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds and Frosted Flakes.

I don't think that's odd.

Fruit snob here, I guess - though I've never heard anyone call it that. Wheaties and berries in warm weather; oatmeal (quick, not instant) with apples or pears when it's cold.

I am a crunchy granola type, with yogurt and fruit. (though on most days, I just have coffee and bread)

So do I. When I eat cheerios I eat it plain - it doesn't need sugar. As for favorite, I don't have one. I'm not real big on cereal.

Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch is my absolute favorite.

That's K's favorite, too! lol A likes honey bunches of oats with almonds, and B likes pops, and D doesn't care as long as it's a circle. He won't eat cereal if it's not a circle. (Cheerios, pops, fruit loops, etc.)

I eat plain yogurt with just a tiny bit of Kashi Mountain Medley granola. I usually add some dried cranberries and fresh berries if I have them. If not a banana is great, too.

Frosted Mini Wheats are my all-time fave.

Those are my staple. I'm not sure why, exactly. I think it's because they're a bit sweet but they're also filling, so I don't feel like I just ate a tablespoon of sugar after I eat a bowl of it.

I also like Life.

I dislike the new chocolate varieties of traditional cereals. They all seem horrid.

Doesn't "frosted" mean coated in sugar? (I've never tried them; I'm genuinely asking.)

Interesting comparison chart here.

That sounds yummy. I normally eat just yogurt (without anything added in) or drink a slim fast. Well, when I eat breakfast. My morning meds sometimes make me a bit nauseous, and then I don't eat breakfast.

Honey almond Granola.

I used to get it in bulk at a great health food store -- the alt to Whole Foods --I've forgotten the name-- the one from Colorado. When they left town I couldn't find anything that I liked. Then, TA DAH, it reappeared at Whole Food -- so I am back in business. Just the three ingredients, without too much honey. It's great.

Other than that, organic old fashion cut oats for oatmeal. Yeah, it takes a while to cook --but it is great and good for you!

My cereal of choice is Kashi with sliced banana minus the Kashi.

Grainfree 3 mos and counting. Apparently I'm also dairy allergic. And there's sugar in every single freaking soy and rice milk even if I *could* have those. So like a high maintenance Elvis had he wanted to live, Banana and PB are for me.

Homemade granola is the my current fav. I like a lot of store bought cereals too though I rarely do buy them. They are too expensive and IMO, not really good for me.

:rose:

I never buy fancy cereals - I am far to miserly to spend money on that sort of thing- if there is spare money in the grocery budget I'd rather buy wine or good steak.

I eat plain old porridge (not instant), with raisins and honey, or I make home-made muesli. Sometimes I buy weet-bix, which are sort of like bricks of compressed cardboard, but are much beloved by people in this part of the world
