Centuries collide (closed)

Chris turned to see her sword drawn. "Relax. If it weren't for magic, I'd have been caught a long time ago." Chris explained. He started looking around exploring the bookshelves In his Uncle's study.

" We don't have much time. This place is under surveillance."

She stood guard he would better know what he was looking for.

Then you need to hurry.

Chris ransacked the bookshelves desperately looking for the correct book. He knew it was only a matter of time before Yun Lao's forces arrived. Then he spotted the right book.

"I've found it!" Chris exclaimed. "Let's get out of here before Yun Lao's goons show up."

She nodded to him figuring this meant more magic and set herself for that fact.

Let's go.

Chris went over to the nearest wall and began drawing the same symbols as before, the old book clutched tightly in his hands.

As he drew the final oval, a crash was heard downstairs at the front door.

"Shit! They're here!" Chris cried out.

Her sword drawn she was about to head downstairs for combat.

"Shit. They're blocking the spell some how. We will have to fight our way out." Chris said nervously.

Hearing that she grinned and lept downstairs ready to fight.

Can you fight?

"I know a few attack spells, but, like I said, my training wasn't completed." Chris replied. "You take point I will provide back up."

Chris took a few steps back and let her lead the way.

"Wait! Before we go into battle. What is your name?"

Pema...

She called out as gunfire and the clanging of her swords against their weapons can be heard ringing out.

Chris raised his hand in the air and closed his eyes, desperately trying to remember the mantra his Uncle had taught him.

"The burning flame destroys and purifies. The burning flame destroys and purifies. The burning flame destroys and purifies." Chris repeated the mantra over and over again. The skin of the enemy start to smoke suddenly. The air gets hotter.

A crackling sound can be heard from outside as the entire front of the building caught fire. The air inside seemed to triple in temperature every few seconds until it seemed like even the air was on fire. The pendant and the book begin to glow. A bubble of energy suddenly appears around Chris and Pema and Chris can't help but stand there and watch as the home he had grew up in, the one his uncle raised him in, burn down. And by his own hand.

The serpent of the necklace seemed to whip around hissing as the first blade was denied the slaughter the soul called for but it aided the book none the less.

Hours later, Chris and Pema were sitting in his door room, the smell of smoke still on their clothes.

"I'm sorry." Chris said to break the silence that had pervaded the room. "That wasn't supposed to happen."

It is fine... I... Am sorry that my blade did not shed their blood is all.

She sighed and shrugged.

"My Uncle always warned me of the dangers of magic. Now I know what he meant." Chris said staring off into the distance. "But at least I've figured out what Yun Lao did and how to defeat him. I told you we needed the book."

She nodded and shrugged.

I have never wielded trust in magic.

"Yun Lao learned to manipulate these things called ley lines. They are like power cables for magic users. Huge source of energy." Chris said. He stood up and started to pace furiously.

"The book has a chapter dedicated to a specific type of ley line, ones that control time and space. Well Yun managed to find one and use it to keep his body from flowing down the river of time. He is effectively immortal." Chris revealed. Then he excitedly walked over to Pema. "Thats why your amulet is so important. Do you even know what it is?"

I am first blade of the serpents soul. It is the serpents soul. Immortal or not these blades will end him.

She hissed.

"Exactly! Can't you see? The amulet allows you manipulate ley lines! You can use that power to undo whatever he did to preserpreserve his body and keep him from dying!"

No... I am only warrior... Not magic wielder.

She recoiled again wary of it being a trap.

"Then give it to me." Chris offered. "We need to use it to its fullest potential."

A snarl left her when he spoke of her banding it over. Her sword was in her hand though she did not reach for it and the serpents eyes glowed. It was protecting itself and it's warrior.

"Pema. Let's not do this. The amulet is wasted with you. You can barely use it! Please if you want to defeat your most ancient enemies, you know you need me." Chris said. He tested to back down. He took a step forward and the book that they had risked their lives for began to glow.

The necklace shifted as if ready to defend itself and it's wearer.

NO! The serpents soul is the warriors symbol not sorcerer.

Chris shook his head sadly, head hanging down. Then he looked up with determination in his eyes.

"You will give me the amulet Pema. Yun killed my uncle and I will do anything, absolutely anything to get my revenge." The book began to glow, emitting a bright white light that expanded from the book and slowly began to creep towards Pema.

"Purify all who stand against me. Purify all who stand against me. Purify all who stand against me!" As Chris chanted, the light grew brighter and moved ever closer to Pema and the rest of their surroundings.
