there's a great deal of hostility here between chatters and bb'ers (sorry, wasn't sure what to call this group)...and more than a little disdain too

i'm sorry, but i have a hard time with this...for those who don't know me, i've been a regular in chat for a long time...as long or longer than many (most) of the people have been registered in here...i made the switch to the bb because at long last i ran out of fun and quick things to do in chat...all the lighthearted laughter and quick comebacks have been said too many times...i found myself spending more time staring at the scroll than participating...this format allows for (usually) more thoughtful responses...and a much easier pace

but that doesn't mean that chat is bad, or that everyone there is shallow...believe me, the friendships there are as real and significant as those some of you have forged in here...i fell in love in chat (real love, deep love) and though i gave and received pain from that relationship, i will never regret it...she is one of my closest friends on earth to this day

so i guess the point is, we have two rich communities on this one great site, and they don't HAVE to be exclusive of each other...they differ mostly in format, but in the end, both are fulfilling in their odd ways, and as complex as any social gatherings i can imagine

so peace, please...maybe stevie blew up when she shouldn't have, but haven't we all? she's actually quite sweet

(and yes, i know some of you don't give a shit what i think because i haven't yet paid my dues in here, but i'm tough...i can take that too)

I happen to agree with you. I started out more in chat, but got bored relatively quickly. That was a matter of my own taste for entertainment, not a matter of intelligence, wit, or morality. I certainly like coming to the board, but it remains a fact that the best friend (and no, we've not met, though she lives close enough) and artist that I've met at Lit has been someone I encountered in chat. Wound up exchanging visuals of our work, our dreams, and the flirtation went off, but the friendship rose nicely. We were supposed to go to a museum in NYC, but then the place blew up, so we're on hold. Some really excellent people chat, and I hate it when people here act like they're troglodytes. That's just a cheap judgement. Flame away.
