Modern thanksgiving has nothing to do with the original thanksgiving. Modern thanksgiving originated during the Civil War as a way of boosting the country's morale. It was celebrated periodically until FDR made a yearly event.

OK, let's roll with it.

The native Americans were primarily wiped out by European diseases, smallpox being the 'pandemic' of the times.

Smallpox was first introduced to the America's by the Spanish, who are now mostly referred to as 'people of color.' The disease was first planted in Mexico but further exploration on the Spaniards part spread it to Central America, South America, the US Southwest, the entire lower Mississippi River area, Texas, and Florida/Georgia. The disease was well established before the English/Dutch/French ever made it to the America's. It is estimated that quite literally millions died.

Then there is the myth that the Europeans purposely went about exterminating the American Indian. That is also untrue as a general rule. There are some isolated instances where individual groups DID go about killing groups of indigenous peoples but there was never a policy of doing so. And those instances should never be forgotten or excused.

Add to that that the various tribes were engaged in murdering each other. In one well documented case the Spanish stepped in and prevented the Navajo from wiping out the Hopi to the last individual. The same is true with regards to the Lipan Apache where several other tribes banded together to eliminate them.

If the indigenous peoples want to establish their own 'Day of Mourning' let them do so. But the University eggheads can shove this notion up their ass.

Ypure right, white Europeans are the true victims here. Many people arent aware that the Indians fought other indian tribes so they obvioisly deserved what they got.
