I have an idea for a series I'd like to place in Romance, but it has some fantasy elements to it. Will it automatically be put in Sci-Fi/Fantasy if, say, I include elements of mysticism?

Hey Slick - as far as I know - No

When I posted rites of beltane, I put in the notes its should go into sci/fantasy Not first-time.

I think if you state your preferences most of the time it gets abided by.

my 3 and 1/2 cents

That worked for my Wizard of Fuzz series, which went into EC upon my suggestion. I just wasn't sure if the guidelines for Romance were more stringent.

Romance is primarily about love and the consequences. So what if you through in a little mysticism...

Just try to keep out the "he kikked in the dor and camed in her fac..." :p

That's why I don't write stories.....too many words. hard to look up each one before I type it with both fingers.

Depends. Is this "They are all Us" mysticism or "You are all Me" mysticism or"We are all One" mysticism or "They all Fucked My WIfe" mysticism?

Why do I hear "I am the Walrus" now?

Someone has to ask the hard questions!

Alice Hoffman and Amy Tan both write novels set in the normal world where mysticism intrudes rather than being the setting. I think as long as reality is the basis and not the intruder, you'll be fine.

The story I have in mind is pseudo-historical, taking place around the beginning of the 19th century. I don't want to use 'obvious magic,' just a touch of mysticism and the unknown.

Sorry, Zoot, but I really don't know how to answer your question . . . :p
