Category Help Needed

Just finished a story and can't decide where to put it. IMO, it's a weak fit for any of the following: Mind Control (a la self hypnosis, of sorts), Romance, Group Sex, and First Time (with a particular lover, not re virginity). Not a strong fit anywhere.

Anyone willing to have a read? It's about 8,600 words.

Then, you make the choice you think and be quite explicit when you submit it. In the notes box, be very firm that you do not want them to re-categorise it.

I don't do "very firm" very well, but I'll do my best.

However, I do have an interest in tweaking the story to fit better in another category -- and suggestions to that end are welcome.

Hell, woman -- I'm really waffling on this. As I told the others in the e-mail/PM I sent out this morning:

Personally, 'Romance' feels better to me -- but since there'll be so damned many entries in that category for the next contest, I'd prefer to avoid it. So, I'm leaning most toward 'Mind Control' -- simply because (a) the prequel "Wetter ..." story is in that category; and (b) it lends itself well to more stories with these characters. However, I realize that the mind control (self-hypnosis, kinda) in this story is very weak.

So far, everyone who's read this has assumed that "the one" Jess is with at the end is Sam. However, could be any of 'em. What's your feel?

Mind control........hmmmm........you're right, not enough.

Still comes out as group for me.

Personally, of course, I'd like to see it as Sam....I don't think it would be credible to be Richard..........a sudden resurgence of sexual activity......no, I see him as the driving force, the linch pin of the action.......but it could be Charlie.........I think it should be both Charlie and Sam. Together. It could work, then it could definitely be group.

Mind control does not just entail hypnosis, and I sometimes think the reason that category gets so few submissions is because of hesitations like yours. I say it works, and is highly appropriate there if that is where the prequel you mentioned resides. There was definetly some serious mental manipulation goin on, particularly near the ending.

Thanks. I'm thinking of perhaps beefing up the initial conversation between Jess & Richard to include a little discussion of hypnosis.

Perhaps if I include an author's note at the beginning that this is not standard mind control fare, the natives won't be too unkind.
