I just uploaded my first story and chose the gay male section. But a reader comment now has me questioning if it should be in non consent/reluctance.

What if your story fits in two categories, how do you decide what one?

Or can I relax knowing the admins read my work and agreed on my category selection before they published it?

If it is gay and non-consent I think you put it in the right category. The majority of the readers are hetero and from what I understand there is a block of them that 'punish' any gay stories that don't stay in their lane. If you're worried there is a strong non-consent vibe that may offend some readers then you could put a disclaimer at the beginning of the story to let readers know the story contains non-con.

KeithD's probably the expert on this question, but my understanding is if it's a gay male story then they'll put it in the gay male category by default. It's not necessarily fair, but that's the way it is. It's likely you would get more negative response from the straight readers if the story were in nonconsent/reluctance than you have from the gay readers in gay male. Many straight readers (I'm not one) don't want to have anything to do with gay male stories. Some readers get very touchy about their categories.

Certain categories "trump" others. As mentioned above, it's generally about which aspect of the story is going to surprise the most readers, in a bad way. There's an article on categories over here that explains the whole trumping thing:
Love Your Readers: Categories

In my experience, if it includes male-male sex (or sexual attraction) in any form, on this Web site it's best put in the Gay Male category.

I've had GM episodes in Group, Incest, and LW stories, but not as the major theme. If all the girls daisychain, and all the boys daisychain, and then all the girls and boys 69 each other, whaddya got? Especially if they're family.

My experience: All my stories with any MM contact have gone into other categories with their dominant themes.

I've written interracial incest -- mom and kids with fathers of different colors. If they were all same-sex, where would their story go? Iroquois dad rediscovers long-lost, studly sons from Haitian and Irish mothers. What's the category?
