Categorization question

Hi everyone,

I had so much fun writing my first story that I'm already outlining my second in my head. It will be about a wife planning a very special evening for her husband that only involves sexual adventures between the two of them - nobody else.

My take on these categories is that "Loving Wives" is an ironic title, and that category is specifically for cheating/swinging wives and cuckold stories, etc. So this particular story would fit better into the "Erotic Couplings" category. Am I right? Or is there room in Loving Wives for a sincerely loving wife?

Loving Wives is a weird category. It encompasses several different readerships with mutually exclusive tastes.

If I were you I'd post that story in Loving Wives, because that's where it will get the most readers. It will get far more readers in that category than in Erotic Couplings. If the story has elements of some other kink then you could publish it elsewhere. I've had good luck publishing stories about wives in Exhibitionist and Voyeur, but that works because the stories have all had significant exhibitionist/voyeuristic elements.

First story, I'd go with Erotic Couplings. Loving Wives can be a very rough category in terms of comments. Others may disagree, but I'd go for the "soft landing" on your first one.

Only publish in Loving Wives if you have a thick skin and don't mind poor scores from the votes of the haters. Then again, if it is a revenge story on a cheating wife, you'll have a lot of admirers.

If it's only the two of them, then it's not a LW story. I'd write the story and see what happens before worrying about the category. You never know what direction it may head.

This isn't for loving wives then, it is a category for cheating wives or cuckolded husbands.

Do some homework on the nature of stories in LW, the breadth, content and style of the commentary, and make up your own mind.

Some writers go there, others stay right away. There are good reasons for both approaches. It's not the same as other categories, it has its own set of rules. What you'll see here is the great divide, which probably won't be a great help, although I'd err on the side of caution (thus declaring my colours).

You might look into the "Mature" category. I know the category description is about autumn/spring relationships, but a lot of people put sentimental stories there about more mature couples.

I don't know the age of your characters, and I can't actually recommend the category based on my experience, but some people love it.

If I were you I'd post that story in Loving Wives, because that's where it will get the most readers.

Categorizing a story as LW because it involves a married woman is a lot like categorizing Moby Dick as BDSM because the crew ties a bunch of knots.
