Hello, I'm working on a multi chapter submission. The first chapter was published under the Nonconsent heading. Some following chapters are already submitted and are pending. I catagorized them also under Nonconsent, although they could probably have been more accuratly catagorized differently.

I remember back when I first found Literotica and read, with much enjoyment, Whispersecret's Hostile Takeover series. It was all posted under Nonconsent, though it could eventually have been under Erotic Coupling or even Romance (I loved Hostile Takeover!). As a newbie to this site, it was easy for me to find and read all her chapters because they were all together. That was the reason for my doing the same.

My question is this: Will the Literotica editors have a problem with this?

Thanks much,
circe!

I have a multichaptered submission scattered in 3 categories. Which kind of sucks because there is only three chapters. It's not too hard to find them all together though, find one, click on the author's name and all of them are listed in order. After voting, you can click on the author's name again and go back to that very page. It's simple, neat, and very easy to navigate.

If you want your entire series placed in a single category, please put a "Laurel - Read" note at the top of the submission. That's usually a good idea if you have any kind of special requests. Most authors who write long series WANT their series to cross into different categories...many readers only check out the cats that interest them, so by having chapters in multiple cats, it increases the story's exposure.

That said, I'm more than willing to consider author requests. My only real concern is that if the first chapter of a series contains, say Fetish content, but the remaining 20 chapters are Loving Wives or Lesbian, I then have 20 submissions in Fetish that don't have any fetish theme. This can defeat the purpose of categories and annoy the readers looking for Fetish stories. Just something to consider...

The theme of "Hostile Takeover" is Nonconsentual - a father selling his daughter against his will. There's romance, there's incestual material, there's some voyeurism...but the overriding concept is a woman given against her consent. If you do want your series placed in a single category, it'd be a good idea to think long and hard about where it would best belong. If you place a Romance in the Fetish category, the Fetish readers will not appreciate it as much as the Romance readers would, and generally will vote and give feedback accordingly.

If any author believes their story belongs better in a different category than the one it's been placed in, feel free to drop me a line explaining the situation. I'm more than willing to change cats if the story would be a better fit elsewhere. :)

I agree that Hostile Takeover should be categorized as non-consent. If Laurel put it in Romance, even though it does end up as a love story, people would have a hissy fit when they read that first chapter where Rockwell buys the rights to Fiona and takes her against her will.

Which brings me to my question. Laurel, would you consider posting H.T. under Non-Consent again, as well as Novels/Novellas? If people venture over to the novel section, they have no way to figure out what category the stories are. :)

Love ya, babe. Can't wait 'til Spring!!!

Too true...One of the improvements I want to make is a sort of "second category" for the erotic novels...when you submit and choose Novels/Novellas, another option would open giving you the choice of all the other cats - Erotic Couplings, Romance, etc. When a reader would go to the Novels section, they'd be sorted by category. Something to that effect...I'm still working out the specifics with Manu and our programmer guy, but that's kind of the gist of what I've got in mind.

I also want to find a way to list the Novels the way they used to be listed - with, for example, a header of "Hostile Takeover" listed in the main section which, when clicked, would take you to a listing of all the chapters. I don't know how complicated this is, but it's something I want to work toward.

Me neither... ;)

MY STORIES

I had submitted all of my stories as INTERRACIAL. However, one of them made it to the category of NON-CONSENTIAL and most of the others, except one other, were moved to EROTIC COUPLES. I'm not sure but I think I e-mailed Laurel a thank you note. Hell, I consider that a story promotion.

If the series I'm thinking of that you wrote is the actual one, then don't worry about it, honey! It's hot and the readers are following it, no matter where it's posted!
