Do you ever get on a kick for one single artist....I've been on a Cat Stevens kick for about a week now and I just can't seem to get enough of it.

So, here's to you!

Oh Very Young

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
You're only dancing on this earth for a short while
And though your dreams may toss and turn you now
They will vanish away like your daddys best jeans
Denim Blue fading up to the sky
And though you want him to last forever
You know he never will (You know he never will )
And the patches make the goodbye harder still

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
There'll never be a better chance to change your mind
And if you want this world to see a better day
Will you carry the words of love with you
Will you ride the great white bird into heaven
And though you want to last forever
You know you never will (You know you never will )
And the goodbye makes the journey harder still

Oh very young
What will you leave us this time
Youre only dancing on this earth for a short while
Oh very young
What will you leave us this time

I've been on a Led Zepplin kick for about thirty years now.

totally. I went through a Cat Stevens thing at the end of this past summer when I picked up Tea for the Tillerman for a buck at a yard sale and then had to listen to it every day for about a month. He was just so fucking great before he went all loopy and Muslim. Makes me a bit sad:(

Wild World
Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam)

Now that I've lost every thing to you
You say you wanna start something new
And it's breaking my heart you're leaving
Baby I'm grievin'

But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh baby baby it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl

You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breaking my heart in two
Because I never want to see you sad girl
Don't be a bad girl

But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember theres a lot of bad out there

Oh baby baby it's a wild world
It's hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it's a wild world
I'll always remember you like a child, girl
Baby I love you
But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember theres a lot of bad out there

It's not time
to settle down
Just relax
take it easy
Your still young
that's you fault
There's so much
for you
to go through

Someone go find me the words to Hard Headed Woman. That is about the best love song ever.

It's strange, I hear these songs on a movie...a clip somewhere on the radio and I race home to download them. Of all places to find a great song...Kingpin is where I first recall hearing Oh Very Young.

If Kazza charged, I'd be broke!

Hard Headed Woman

I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will take me for myself,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I will need nobody else, no, no,no.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman
I know the rest of my life will be blessed -- yes, yes, yes.
I know a lot of fancy dancers,
people who can glide you on a floor,
They move so smooth but have no answers.
When you ask them "What d'you come here for?"
"I don't know" "Why?"
I know many fine feathered friends
but their friendliness depends on how you do.
They know many sure fired ways
to find out the one who pays
and how you do.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me feel so good,
And if I find my hard headed woman,
I know my life will be as it should -- yes, yes, yes.
I'm looking for a hard headed woman,
One who will make me do my best,
And if I find my hard headed woman...

One of my fav's off that is Ruby

There are few and far between albums (oh am I dating myself) that have awesome songs on the entire album. He was just amazing, such a great voice. And I agree he denied us alot of future listening pleasure when his calling came and took him away.

I love Cat Stevens and hsi lyrics here is one song of his and is I think my theme for almost every weekend.

Another Satuday Night

Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way

I got in town a month ago
I seen a lot of girls since then
If I could meet 'em I could get 'em
But as yet I haven't met 'em
That's how I'm in the state I'm in

Oh,
Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way

Another fella told me
He had a sister who looked just fine
Instead of bein' my deliv'rance
She had a strange resemblance
To a cat named Frankenstein

Ooh, la,
Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way

It's hard on a fella
When he don't know his way around
If I don't find me a honey
To help me spend my money
I'm gonna have to blow this town

Oh, no
Another Saturday night and I ain't got nobody
I've got some money 'cause I just got paid
Now, how I wish I had someone to talk to
I'm in an awful way

"Squeeze my lemon, baby!
Till the juice runs down my leg!"

Good lord. You're not even old enough to have been concieved to one of his songs when they were on the charts!

I had a hippie folksy mom so the soundtrack of my childhood was Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Carole King, Carly Simon, etc. Of course I had to go through a period where I would just roll my eyes when she would pull out her records (you know what records are, right?) but now I know all that stuff is a part of my life and can enjoy it.

I haven't bought a cd in over a year. I'm a download junky now...my poor computer!!!

Harry Chapin (Cat's in the Cradle, btw)

oh and Jim Croce is long gone as well.

Hah. Obviously, you did not see me and Mr Keen New Years Eve at about 4:30 am, when the Air Guitar Championship Finals began...
