Owen is one smart cat...he hears Laurel talking about a mouse on the computer and he is trying to bait a trap to catch it.
once the mouse is inside and eats the kibble, he gets too fat to escape the trap and gets electrocuted when the computer is powered up.

i have heard of this before.
the old "cat and mouse game" they call it.
