Post the problem here.

To start...I've got some carpal tunnel issues going on, and a brace I switch from wrist to wrist depending on the severity of pain on either hand.

Is it normal for numbness occur in my hands?

I dunno, but I can ask my Doc tomorrow for you. :rose:

Carpal Tunnel frequently includes numbness and/or pain in the fingers, hand, wrist and arm up to the shoulder. If you're still in the hand numbing stage, get help now by a specialist before permanent damage is done. The wrist braces only delay the inevitable as do the cortisone shots.

The surgery stops the problem from progressing if there is permanant nerve damage. If the damage is not permanent then you'll just end up a little weak in that hand.

SO has it in both hands. Surgery on one was successful in stopping further damage. If this was work related, workmans comp should cover it.

Yep, numbness is normal... I've got it too... but I don't wear the brace... it drives me batty...

I'm considering the surgery seriously but it will have to wait until July when I get insurance....

Get a good orthopedic surgeon is the best advice. I broke my left wrist 20 years ago. It's limited in movement now, I have pain and/or numbness even now. Five doctors have diagnosed Carple Tunnel.

How around calcification of the joint!

I've got spinosis. As it was explained to me, it's when your lowest vertebrae slides off the point it fixes to your pelvis. It's not repairable and is progressive. Surgery is a possibility, but very dangerous and doesn't have pleasant results, even in the best possible outcome. Although it doesn't affect me in strenuous activities, it is a killer in regards to sleep. I haven't found a bed I can sleep in without pain in 5 years. As far as I know, all you can do is a lot of exercise to keep the stomach and back muscles strong so it doesn't get worse.

I try to pay attention to my posture and position on the computer, and switch off between touchpad and mouse occassionally, use lots of keystroke commands too - generally try to avoid persistent overuse or misuse of certain muscles, tendons, etc. Hanging on so far . . .

It's one of the most insidious ailments I've ever seen. Anything you do that disturbs the area (stretching included) can cause it to inflame and cause crippling pain that lasts for days. I'm very careful about trying new exercises. I do a lot of crunches and leg lifts with weights (despite having a big tummy, you can see the lines from my stomach muscles). Anything that involves twisting or flexing (leaning back more than verticle) can aggravate it. I've looked at pilates, but a lot of it has to do with that and I'm not sure how I'd do only a portion of it.

I went to a chiropractor once who did an adjustment without a full exam first. I walked with a limp (when I could walk) for a week. Things that should make it better, only make it worse.

Well... might be worth going to talk to a trained teacher of pilates and see what they think? Can't hurt to watch a class :)
It sounds like a horrid injury to have, you have my sympathy - at least it doesn't seem to affect your, hmm, *time* with Kiten ;)
How did you get the injury if you don't mind me asking?

Evidently it's genetic. That vertebrae isn't supposed to be able to move. When it goes bad, you can't put it back. The problem is that most people aren't trained in it, so I'm not sure it would be safe to take a pilates teacher's advice. I'm hoping to get back to a doctor soon (just as soon as the new insurance kicks in) to see if there's anything new they can suggest.

Actually it does interferre with intimacy. Certain positions are painful and I can only stay in them so long. On the bright side, it's good incentive to work out hard so I can hold them as long as possible. :)
